Quick pitch: Since the fall of the Yarrowsong Empire some 4000 years ago, this region has been choked with a tangled jungle of jagged trees, thorn bushes, and vines. The region is said to be cursed, and many who enter loose their minds; whether this is due to the labyrinthine nature of the forest or to a magical effect is unclear, though a detectable aura does suffuse the forest in its entirety. A group of humanoids simply referred to as the Gruz, an Inarian word for "beast", roams the woodland as a feral pack; the vast majority of the Gruz are minotaurs, humans, or elves, though other races have reportedly been counted amongst their ranks. At one point the area was called "The Forbidden Lands of the Gruz", but over time this name was shortened to simply Forbidden Gruz. Out of the handful of attempted expeditions into this region very few returned, and none returned sane.
