Located just west of the Longstrand, it was once the frontier of the imperial holdings in the Westlands. Today, while it's location is unchanged, it is an independent state boasting a strong military and economy. The natural route of trade between the Longstrand states and the Imperial Successor States, it makes good use of its location to support its cities and economy. The constant threat of the Mountains of Despair and Shroudwood keep its people from growing complacent. It is the arrival of the Vismarch army that is thought to have swayed the The Last Battle.
Formed under the control of the Imperial marshals in command of the troops securing the westernmost reaches of The Empire, Vismarch is and was a well ran state. While many of the benefits of its militaristic origin are clear to see, so are the drawbacks, with culture not being able to flourish as much.
