During the Second Weltkrieg, Germany found itself in an increasingly desperate situation, especially once Chinese reinforcements began to arrive from across Siberia. One of the most infamous "Wunderwaffe" (or Wonder Weapon) programs was D-IX, a performance enhancing drug made from 5mg of oxycodone (an Opium extract), 5mg of Cocaine and 3mg of Methamphetamine, its most important ingredient. German soldiers in full kit were known to march as long as 90km in a single day when given D-IX and could then fight as well as if they had just slept eight hours. Their muscle strength, alertness, self-confidence and aggression were all significantly increased. However, this came at the cost of an almost assured first consumption addiction, with withdrawal symptoms which could result in death, most often from suicide. Almost all D-IX tablets were destroyed after the war and the program's records scrapped. However, a few chemical engineers working on the program moved to Oceanyka, where the drug continues clandestine production. One of the common names for this drug in the land down under is Luciferium or the Devil's Bargain.
