Bastard guns are a type of assault rifle shoddily manufactured en-masse within Oceanyka's underground workshops, primarily at the Cestlep Slums. They typically lack safety of any kind, much in the way of ergonomics, do not have a fire selector, shoot from an open bolt, have very loose tolerances and yet... they work. Suffice to say bastard guns are hated by professional gunsmiths and capitalists within the Oceanykan military-industrial complex, though most shooters consider one of these weapons exploding in their face as vital character development. Most of them are chambered in 7.62x39mm, the most common intermediate cartridge in Oceanyka.
