The Huot Automatic Rifle is a converted light machinegun created by installing a handy kit upon a Ross Rifle Mk III or similar firearm, chambered in .303 British and fed from 25-round drum magazines. It was developed during the Great War to alleviate Canada's lack of light machineguns, but the project was given priority following the British Revolution as Anglo-America emerged with a dire need to arm itself. Design choices in the Huot conversion kit alleviated the Ross Rifle's finnicky tendencies, turning it into a very reliable light machinegun. During World War II the Huot served in more or less the same role as other contemporary automatic rifles such as the M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle.
