The Mikulin AM-42 is a Soviet aircraft piston engine that was evolved from the Mikulin 38F and was used primarily in the Great Patriotic War. It is widely considered a Soviet superprop engine due to its capabilities. The AM-42 has an inverted V12 configuration, a liquid cooling system, and normally includes a turbocharger for high altitude work. The engine could produce around 2,000 hp.
