The Dassault Mirage III is a French strike fighter which came into service in the 1960s. Its most modern variant, which prior ones are being upgraded to, is the Mirage IIIE, which transforms it from a simple aerial interceptor to a true strike fighter with the capability to attack surface targets. The Mirage IIIE is powered by a SNECMA Atar jet engine which allows it to reach a maximum speed of 2,350 km/h, though when equipped with the SEPR 84 Rocket Booster it can reach Mach 2.2 comfortably; additionally, it is armed with two DEFA Revolver Cannons and can carry up to 4,000 kg of ordnance in exterior hardpoints, including air-to-air missiles which its on-board radar and avionics are designed to operate. As far as Cold War strike fighters go, the Dassault Mirage III is a beast, able to comfortably compete with any eastern design it might face. So far, no French Mirage IIIEs have been spotted in the hands of Oceanykan airmen, but the locally produced variant is a different story.

While the threat of the Red Army crossing over Poland and reaching Paris in 21 days is ever-present, the French Air Force of the mid-1960s is more occupied fighting the Second Colonial War against a myriad of rebel groups attempting to rip apart the vestiges of its once vast colonial empire.

EFFECT:
All weapons of a lower tech level than Modern gain a Hard DM when attacking this aircraft.

Unique Attributes

Elusive Mirage - Dassault Mirage III UA

When Marcel Dassault designed the Mirage III, he sought to create a fighter that could evade the enemy gracefully; they'd always be close, but never quite reach it, as a traveller can never reach the mirage of the desert.

EFFECT:
Mirage III pilots can, once per Engagement, perform an evasive manoeuvre that puts them out of reach of all enemy pilots for a Short Duration; when re-engaging, gain +3 Air Superiority for a Short Duration.
