The Dassault Mirage III is a French strike fighter which came into service in the 1960s. Its most modern variant, which prior ones are being upgraded to, is the Mirage IIIE, which transforms it from a simple aerial interceptor to a true strike fighter with the capability to attack surface targets. The Mirage IIIE is powered by a SNECMA Atar jet engine which allows it to reach a maximum speed of 2,350 km/h, though when equipped with the SEPR 84 Rocket Booster it can reach Mach 2.2 comfortably; additionally, it is armed with two DEFA Revolver Cannons and can carry up to 4,000 kg of ordnance in exterior hardpoints, including air-to-air missiles which its on-board radar and avionics are designed to operate. As far as Cold War strike fighters go, the Dassault Mirage III is a beast, able to comfortably compete with any eastern design it might face. So far, no French Mirage IIIEs have been spotted in the hands of Oceanykan airmen, but the locally produced variant is a different story.
