Returning from the hunt on the catoblepas, the party tried to find out what was happening with the Emissarian elves unable to cast magic.
Nafir and Arkorow snuck in to make sure the Archivist was alive since he was a being of pure magic. They found him lifeless on the floor, but Nafir, somehow, was able to use a scroll of sequester to stop him from dying.
Trying to get answers from his god, Devinn attempted to contact Murk with the commune spell. He had a vision where he, or some version of himself, was in a doctor's mansion. Elyn Ranhir was also there, occasionally flipping between her own voice and that of Murk. The place was beset by an angry mob with torches and pitchforks, and they killed them with grand magic as a last effort. The only answer Devinn got was that yes, undoubtedly the reason the elves could not cast magic is somewhere on the temple grounds.
The party then infiltrated the temple proper, with Nafir, who once again despite having less than even mediocre abilities outshone the party in all avenues. With the gate unlocked, the party came face to face with the nephews, Virion and Solitaire.
