The outer planes are always at war. An eternal conflict between gods, titans, angels, and all other celestials alike for reasons that even they, despite their immortal nature, have forgotten. Beings of immense power battle over the lands of lesser celestials. They scar worlds and destroy continents in in their rage. Yet, it is but a small faction of these celestials that wage war. The vast majority of the inhabitants of the outer planes are no different than those in the physical world. They live their lives and want to be left to themselves. Yet where there is war, there is destruction and where there is destruction there is victims. Innocent lives that have been caught between the crossfires of powers that they can never dream of contending against. Quiet beings that want to live a quiet life. It is with these victims that this story begins. It is with these celestials that in ages long gone, the world of Ylta finds its origin.
Nine chiefs of great power ruled over their lands in peace and quiet. They have no desire for war, nor conquest and their home is their paradise. These chiefs were called the Imaryl and consisted of: Tighea the Lord, Gobah the Smith, Bhea the Lady, Extos the Sentinel, Yltor the Traveller, Balyro the Jester, Marken the Scholar, Daerod the Spirit and Fenras the Healer. Their reign was kind and prosperous, yet not eternal. In time, the great celestial wars did make their way to their land, of which the name has now been lost to the ages. With the war came a destruction, unimaginable. The once beautiful home of these celestials was now scarred beyond recognition, beyond habitability. And so, the nine chiefs were left no other choice than to urge their people to flee, and so they would. Using all the power they could muster, they fled the celestial plane that they once called home and ended up in the physical world, on the wastes at the bottom of the universe. Despite the loss of their celestial power, the Imaryl swore an oath to guide their people to a new home. Unable to return to the celestial planes, they wandered the wastes in search of a new land, led by Yltor the Traveler. Eons went by, yet no land was ever found.
When realization finally dawned that they would never find a new home amongst these wastes, despair set in amongst both the Imaryl and their people. However, when despair reached its peak, it was Yltor who offered a new plan. She would sacrifice herself so the other Imaryl could shape her celestial form into a new world of their own. Initially, the others of the Imaryl did not agree with her plan. They would keep looking, find other ways or paths, but they would never sacrifice one of their own. But Yltor had made up her mind. One morning she called the Imaryl together and bid them a farewell, despite their efforts to talk her out of it. And in that moment, all light in the universe seemed to dim as Yltor gathered whatever was left of her celestial power, till in a fierce flash of light Yltor released it al. Yltors form burst into thousands of rays of magnificent colour and would float around the Imaryl. Those who would have looked towards the bottom of the universe on that day would have seen the flash and would have found colours that they had never seen before.
It was so that, begrudgingly but not to let her sacrifice be in vain, that Gobah set about collecting Yltors form and reforging it into land, into a world. He created mountains and rivers, hills and flats, desserts and glaciers. And when he was satisfied, it was Bheas turn. Bhea flooded the land with beauty. Flora reminiscent of those in the outer planes and all over the universe. Trees and flowers took shape, mushrooms and moss sprouted from the ground. Colour flooded the world. Tighea and Extos would create new homes for their people and divided the land amongst them. Balyro would bring laughter, wine and music. Marken would start schools and libraries. Fenras would heal the sick and Dearod would guide the dead. And so the world was made and named Ylta in memory of the sacrifice made by their beloved friend.
Throughout time those of the lesser celestials that remained would lose their celestial being and become the Arunnah, the great ancestor of what we now know as Men, Elves, Dwarves and the like. Those who held onto their power would serve the Imaryl as the Ehnarrah, angels of power just below that of the Imaryl.
The creation of Ylta had not gone unnoticed, and it is so that the fey would come to Ylta and be welcomed by the Arunnah and the Ehnarrah, for they knew the pain of what it was like to be robbed of their home and would gladly share their newly created one with whomever needed it. Through Yltor’s sacrifice and the power that was now imbued in and radiated out by the World, the Imaryl slowly regained their power and ruled over this new world like gods. It is so that the first Aeon of Ylta begins, known as the age of
