"Will you accept my power?" asked the old man, decrepit rags covering his form.
The hungry masses contemplated, but the gnawing emptiness in their stomachs made final their decision. "We accept."
As the words escaped their lips, dark power filled their bodies and new purpose suffused their minds. The old man smiled with a devilish grin. "Now go and claim what is rightfully yours."
The End of Creation, Act III, Scene XI
Preceded by: The Age of Creation
Proceeded by: The Age of Light
The Age of Darkness was, as the name suggests, a dark time in the history of Terrania. Fiendish influences of demons and devils corrupted and transformed the ancient peoples. The fiendish forces laid waste to the other races, forcing them into hiding. The Elves and Gnomes fled into the forests and even took refuge in the Feywild. The Dwarves and Halflings dug underground. Humans, having no other choice, were forced to abandon their homes and live as nomads, constantly on the run from the hordes of Evil.
The Age of Darkness came to an end when a group of heroes, The Lightbringers, united the races to drive back the fiends. They were helped by the Tieflings who, having both demonic and devilish ancestry, no longer wished to serve as pawns in the Blood War, and united against their fiendish roots.
With the fiendish threat driven back, The Lightbringers usher in the Age of Light in AD 2150.
