The parties’ plan is to sneak into the castle. The Law, Clio, and Mudei pose as mercenaries who have captured Cherish and Dragomir. (Tiefling and Vampire who are being targeted) The Zhents (bandits pretending to be Zhents) are convinced and let the party in.
Dragomir and Cherish are placed in cages hanging over the ocean, and realize that they just are prisoners, not really pretending in any way. They meet Countess Isabella Ordan, Orna Ordan, and Eoghan Steleart, (the village elder.) They explain that the count was murdered by a Zhentarim Battle-Captain and they were imprisoned.
Mudei plays his bagpipes for the bandits, the law feasts with the bandits.
When the bandits start passing out from being drunk, Mudei begins to rob them and set fire to the building, while the Law goes outside to rescue Cherish and Dragomir.
Dragomir manages to break the rusted lock on top of their cage and get out, but is still over the ocean.
The Law takes out several bandits on the wall with his crossbow, then begins to draw the cages back over the wall one at a time.
The bandits outside the castle are killed, and the party goes back inside, as the building begins to burn in earnest.
As Mudei robs the sleeping bandits, The Law climbs to a second story window and creeps into the treasury, while the rest of the party take the stairs.
In the treasury is Nendranm and their Squire, opening a chest containing a replica of the Moon Curser’s Key. The Law attempts to pickpocket Nendranym, and is K.O. in one hit. Clio gets around Nendranym, and gets the Law back up, who casts Cloud of Daggers on Nendranym, who just tanks the damage.
Nendranym calmly walks towards the exit, Cherish tries to stop him, and they warn her not to kill their squire, or she’ll replace him. The Squire looks at Cherish, opening its mouth which is a portal to the Abyss. Cherish gains temporary insanity.
Dragomir thinks Nebdranym hid the key in his sleeves (like a magician) and tries to take it (But Nendranym is wearing a sleeveless outfit.) They both stand there awkwardly. Dragomir convinces Nendranym to let him tag along for a while so they can keep talking.
After walking and talking for several hours, Dragomir drops that the Doldrum sank, and the Tallow didn’t tell Nendranym. Nendranym casts detect thoughts on Dragomir, then uses the 8th level spell Eldritch Bitchslap to petrify him. Dragomir dramatically falls into the bog and sinks to the bottom.
Meanwhile, the castle is burning, the party takes thousands of gold worth of treasure from the castle, the bandits flee to the one stone tower and barricade themselves inside, save for the bandit captain, who was drunk, and is now trying to rescue his horse.
The fire attracts 50 or so zombies from the village, who begin marching up into the castle. Clio jumps down into the fray to rescue another horse. Clio and the Bandit Captain fight together against waves of zombies.
A drawn out battle ensues and the zombies are vanquished. The bandits surrender to the townsfolk and party. The bandits are disarmed and banished.
The party helps around town as the Villagers prepare to leave this zombie infested area for a safer city known as Candlelight
A large group of zombies, including a zombified ogre are killed by the party by burning down a barn they were all trapped in.
The party visits a church of Lathander where they speak with the depressed village elder Eoghan.
The Countess who was rescued from the bandits; Isabella Ordan requests that the party help her recover her daughter’s dowry from the peasants and escort them to Candlelight.
Cherish knocks the Countess unconscious and attempts to kidnap her. Amhach catches up with the party after leading the Zhentarim away from them. He chastises Cherish for trying to kidnap the Countess.
Cherish gets tied up by party to stop her from kidnapping Countess.
Amhach and Margo set out to try to find Dragomir and Stop Nendranym from getting away with the key.
The party sets out behind the villagers, as well as the Countess and her daughter who end up traveling with the peasants.
The party fights a pair of banshees and all, but Clio, fell. Clio uses Turn Undead to make them run away.
A day or so into the trip Clio spots Dragomir with Divine Sense, just off the road sunk in the bog. When The Law tries to free him from the muck he is suddenly pulled away into the distance.
The party follows Dragomir some distance to an overturned ship where a Mud Mephit and a Troll are selling “Bog Jerky”. Carcasses preserved in the peat bog that they sell to goblins, kobolds and so forth as food.
The Mud Mephit swims through the bog and grabs things, then the Troll reels him in with a giant fishing rod.
The Law buys some bog jerky, and Cherish purchases Dragomir.
Cherish uses her blood to revive Dragomir.
The party carries on but finds the road choked by thick mists. They pass a dead tree several times and realize they are somehow repeating the same stretch of road over and over.
Kay the Raging Storm notices the same campfire in the distance no matter how far they travel, she promptly sets off away from the road to investigate.
The party finds a small fire with an old stooped woman sitting beside it. The woman is revealed to be an illusion, and in her place is a ritual circle of some kind with a dozen frogs that hop in time around the edge.
When the frogs are interrupted in their dance they come out of a trance and hop off into the bog. Moments later a band of Goblins everge from the waters in an ambush.
There are 4 or 5 goblins with snorkels in the water, they set off snare traps and start pulling Cherish and Dragomir toward the water. At the same time a huge troll wearing 40 foot long stilts and a miniature fortress on its back emerges from the deeper water.
A tough battle ensues with the Bog-Walker. Goblins in the fort backpack fire harpoons and crossbow bolts down, while the troll tries to stomp on the adventurers with its stilts. The battle turns when Kay palm strikes the stilts out from under the troll and Cherish is able to nullify its healing with Burning Hands.
The frog ritual disrupted, the mists thin, and the party continued down the road.
They pass the recently abandoned remains of a Zhentarim blockade. Dozens of bodies are dumped in a shallow grave just off the road from here.
The party finds the remains of the caravan of villagers, another band of goblins has waylaid their wagons. Many are dead, and some are imprisoned in the fort-packs of two more Bog-Walkers.
One Bog-Walker escapes with the Countess and her daughter. The other is destroyed by the party.
Clio, Dragomir, The Law, and Cherish are separated from the rest of the group in the battle. As they search for survivors a four-poster bed with long spindly wooden legs comes running toward them. In the bed are three Green Hags who subdue the party with the Sleep Spell.
When the party awakens they find themselves outside a massive, decrepit mansion.
