Inhabitants: Ca. 600 - 800
Order and Leadership: The village is kept by a guard of tauren Braves, as well as a group of roaming peacekeepers known as Outrunners, all of whom keep Bloodhoof Village as their base of operations. It is the Outrunners' durty to ensure the safety of travellers making their way through Mulgore. The acting leader of the village is Baine Bloodhoof, son of the tauren chieftain Cairne Bloodhoof.
Crime: Crime is presently not an issue in Bloodhoof Village. Closest the village sees are very vocal disagreements, public quarrels, and the occasional rowdy tavern patron. Thieves, pickpockets, and the like are not a typical sight.
Centrally located and surrounded by the clear waters of Stonebull Lake,
Bloodhoof Village is named for the Bloodhoof tribe, and is speculated to
have been the first permanent settlement built by the tauren on flat,
open ground rather than atop a mesa.
The village does not have too many permanent inhabitants, but the military presence from Thunder Bluff within its borders and throughout the area around is significant, as its location next to the main road-crossing in Mulgore makes it a natural central point between the north and south of these open plains. The tauren here often find themselves dealing with trouble from territorial neighbours living in the mountain-range around Mulgore; including gnolls, quillboars, harpies, and elementals.
- A Land of Herbs, Fishing, and Hunting. The rolling plains of Mulgore are
rich with wild game and exotic herbs, and the lake that the village sits
on the edge of is rich with fish. That being said, most of what the
village tends to eat comes from its burgeoning grain storages
- The Surrounding Farmsteads. Despite laying along the main road northward to Thunder Bluff, the recent settling of Bloodhoof Village still leaves it a fairly small village. Approximately half of its counted population live at any of the numerous homestead clusters within a day's walk from the village core. Some of these clusters are the home of numerous different families. Others are predominantly home to one tribe, such as the Winterhoof stead some way south-east of the village, and the Thunderhorn stead to the north past the bridge over Stonebull Lake
- The Stonebull Bridge. At the northern edge of Bloodhoof Village
is a massive bridge. It shares with the river it crosses, and it is
built to stand against wind and weather like little else would. The
tauren of the village depend on it for their well-fared roads north to
Thunder Bluff, as the alternative would be to sail across the river or
make for a long detour around the tremendous lake.
Points of Interest
- Ironbrace's Ironworks (Blacksmith). A blacksmith in the village, owned and operated by a tauren named Harant Ironbrace (M). He works the place together with typically two other workhands -- most of what he makes is by order for others.
- Longstride & Darkmane (General Store). Named for its two co-owning tauren proprietors, Moorat Longstride (M) and Wunna Darkmane (F), this establishment by the main route through Bloodhoof Village is a small general goods supplier whose two owners inherited the property deed not long after they became wed.
- Soft Creeks Tavern (Tavern). A two-story establishment in the northern parts of Bloodhoof village, with an upper floor balcony view of the bridge over Stonebull Lake. Its current proprietor is the tauren Kiona Darkrunner (F).
- The Hall of Congregation (Worship, Services). The largest tent in Bloodhoof Village acts as its central gathering space. Centerpiece in this open room is a large space with a massive upside-down dome and chimney suspended from the supports at the top of the tent. Under this dome, a large bonfire is lit and allowed to smolder away every night. It also acts as a place of worship, as the tauren gather here on a regular place to seek the blessing of the Earth Mother.
- The House of the Outrunners (Inn). Originally built not as an inn, but as a base for the then newly stablished Outrunners, this large building can offer food, lodging, and a place to take a bath for any weary travellers willing to spend some coin. The current steward for the site is the often quiet but still welcoming tauren Kauth Rockhorn (M).
- It is a Modest quality inn (5sp). The party need only pay for lodgings; food is free (2sp/day) thanks to bartering deals between steward Kauth and Qalia Sugarfuel.
- The Silentstride Mill and Bakery. The Silentstride tauren are a small clan who have settled a mill and bakery just out in the eastern outskirts of the village. Their home is a family-sized collection of houses placed close together. Attached to the home itself is an extension the family operates as a bakery, outside of it in turn is a small smokery. Though they do not grow the herbs they use for seasonings — they buy those from the Winterhoof Tribe — they dry and prepare them on their own.
