A character that seems to appear a number of times in vastly different time periods of Namorian myth and legend.
Described as the bastard offspring of the god Enyalius and an unidentified Namorian noble woman; Avem lived a life of turmoil, trapped between two worlds and not really fitting into or being accepted by either. They performed a series of great tasks in order to acquire a weapon that could remove their divinity, making them fully mortal and able to live a normal life.
Avem is then mentioned again in a story that takes place many hundreds of years later, it is unclear if this is meant to be the same Avem or if it is being used as a title. This version of Avem discovered or rediscovered the weapon and was set upon by the Namorian Gods who saw it as a threat to them; through some combination of fortune and skill Avem was able to survive the attack but their children were killed. Seeking vengeance Avem was somehow able to kill the king of the Gods, an event which led to the decline of the Namorian pantheon as a whole and was likely a factor in the fall of the Empire.
A final story takes place centuries later, long after the Empire had collapsed and when the Church of the Five was established. It reference the "sword of Avem" being destroyed by the Church so that it could not be used to kill the new Gods. Specifically it talks about it being broken into five "lesser blades" each powerful in their own right but no longer a threat to the Gods.
