House Rules

To get proficiency in something a PC will need to practice it for 250 days during downtime, some practices require a mentor who asks for 1gp per day of training. (DM discretion)
In order to get expertise in something a player will need to practice it for additional 500 days during downtime.

• Each practice will be at least 8 hours straight, at the cost of 1 downtime day, and grants 1 Practice Point.
• Practicing with a mentor lowers the DC to 0.
• Train to be proficient: DC 10, Modifier will be the relevant ability the PC is attempting to achieve.
• Train to be an expert DC 15, Modifier will be the relevant ability the PC is attempting to achieve.

Rolling a natural 20 grants 5 Practice Points, rolling natural 1 wastes double time and money without learning anything.

A spellcaster can learn a spell during a fight. If the enemy is using a spell, the PC can try to understand its casting. Attempting to understand a magic during a fight requires a reaction for Intelligence (Arcana) check. In this check the DC is 20 + the number of levels this spell is higher/lower than the spellcaster’s highest slot.

For example: a wizard with 4th level spell slots as the highest, can try to learn 5th level spell cast in combat with DC 21 Intelligence (Arcana) check, or 3rd level spell cast in combat with DC 19 Intelligence (Arcana) check.
After the spellcaster learns all the components (V, S, M), and writes them down into a scroll, the spellcaster will own a scroll containing the spell he learned. The scroll functions like any other scroll.

• Learning a component (V, S, M): DC = 20 + Spell’s original slot – Highest spell slot of the PC Intelligence (Arcana) check; can be attempted as reaction each time a spell is cast during combat.
• Each successful check will grant one component of the spell.
• After learning all the components, the spell can be written into a scroll once.
• The scroll can be used like any normal scroll.
• Any class can attempt to learn the components of any spell that belongs to any class (Not limited to a specific class).
• Information about the components can be shared between the group.
• The PCs must write down what thye learned immediately after the fight (or during the fight if they wish), otherwise it will be forgotten.
• Multiple components can be learned in a single fight by a single character.

1. Pacifying:
   • DC of pacifying a creature: 10 – 5 (if correct food was given) + 1 (for each hit point the creature lost) Wisdom (Animal Handling) check.
     Example: PC trying to pacify a wolf that took 10 hp dmg previously in the fight without giving it any food before the attempt, DC=10-0+10=20 Wisdom (Animal Handling) check.
   • Successful attempt to pacify the creature will reduce the capture DC by 5 on the next capture attempt.
2. Capturing:
   • DC of capture attempt of any wildlife: 20 – PC level + Creature challenge rating level Wisdom (Animal Handling) check.
     Example: Level 5 PC attempting to capture wolf with CR ¼ after successfuly pacifying it and the wolf was unharmed, DC=20-5+0-5=10 Wisdom (Animal Handling) check.
   • On successful capture attempt the creature is captured and in possession of the PC.
3. Taming:
   • DC of a taming attempt: 15 – PC level + Creature challenge level Wisdom (Animal Handling) check.
   • Taming can be attempted once a day.
   • Every evening the “captured” creature rolls d20, on a 1 the creature goes feral and attacks the captor, on critical success the creature is immediately tamed.
   • Any food can be given to the creature each day, which will make it calm and prevent it from rolling a d20 for the given day, unless the creature has 15 Intelligence or higher, in that case the d20 roll can't be prevented.
   • To tame a creature, 10 successful checks are required, if the PC fails 5 times the creature goes feral, attacks the tamer, and becomes untamable.
   • On the 10th success the creature is tamed and becomes friendly to the tamer.
4. Owning a Tamed creature:
   • The PC will have full control over his tamed creature.
   • A tamed creature's hit point maximum starts as the maximum of its one die plus constitution modifier (same as level 1 character).
     Example: Newly tamed wolf starts with 8 + 1 = 9hp instead of having 2d8 + 2 hp as a normal wolf would have had.
   • A tamed creature's hit point maximum can be increased by feeding it Pet food, increasing the creature's hit points by 1 hit die. Pet food required to increase max hp increases after every feed by 1.
     Example: Newly tamed wolf ate 1 Pet food, increased its hp by 1d6. Now it needs to eat 2 Pet food to increase its hp by another 1d6.
   • A tamed creature can wear any armor or weapon crafted especially for it.
   • A tamed creature can get proficiency in anything, by doing that thing for 250 days in total
     Example: Tamed wolf wearing a crossbow device on it's back for 250 days will be proficient with this device.

To complete a long rest successfully outside of a safe resting place (such as a tavern), the PCs will have to roll a constitution saving throw with DC according to the armor they wear while taking the long rest, if the PCs fails the check the long rest was disturbed because the character slept uncomfortably, and the character will suffer 1 exhaustion penalty.

Getting into and out of armor:

A PC may try to hit multiple enemies at once, to do so, he must roll with disadvantage.
If the PC managed to hit more than 1 enemy, 1d4 will be rolled to see how many enemies were hit. On a 1, reroll.

• This action may be attempted at Melee combat only.

• This action may be attempted against different types of enemies at once, if the PC hits, the enemies who take damage will be in the order of their AC threshold, highest to lowest.
  Examples:

  • Trying to hit 4 monsters with AC: 20,18,13,10. Rolled 19. The 1d4 rolled 2. The targets that will get the damage are the ones with 18 and 13 AC.

  • Trying to hit 4 monsters with same AC. Successfuly rolled a hit. 1d4 rolled 3. The enemies hit will be chosen at random.

• The damage rolled will split evenly among the targets that were hit.

We will not be tracking weight of item, unless its something very heavy, such as a person.

Instead we will track size of items.

• Tiny
• Small
• Medium
• Large
• Very Large
• Huge
• Gargantuan

Each Container specifies how much it can carry. Tiny items has no significant value and can be carried freely with no measures needed.

Items cannot be hanged on backpacks (increased capacity instead).

A PC can carry 2 extra slots of up to Large items attached to their body (attached to their belt or back).

1. Arena Gambling
   • During downtime a PC may choose to gamble in the arena.
   • A PC may only gamble once a day during downtime.

2. Work During Downtime:

PCs can work during the downtime days when they are in town; they can choose one of many workplaces every town has to offer and roll from the relevant Work table to determine if they earned a reward and how much.

• Roll according to the relevant Work tables for every day's work, PCs choose the DC they want to attempt.
• Working in a specific place has a minimum requirement of 10 consecutive days of work in that place.
• If the PCs fall unconscious during work, they must rest for 3 days before they can return to work. During those days they pay for healing services and infirmary accommodations 3gp per day.
• Only spellcasters can work in the mages’ guild.
• Only non spellcasters can work in the fighter’s guild.
• Working in artisan tools gives proficiency training in the chosen tool.

Part of a Set

• Having part of the tools out of a set counts as having improvised tools.
• If a PC collected all the tools required for a set, they can "merge" the tools into a set such as Mason's tools, thus having a full set and reducing the size of the individual tools to the size of the set.

Improvising Tools

• Improvised tools have a chance to break, a broken tool no longer works.
• Any item may be improvised into any tool and may be used accordingly (DM discretion).

Using Improvised Tools

• Failing an attempt to use an improvised tool by 5 or more breaks the tool.
• Using an improvised tool reduces the score of the attempt by 3.

Ability Checks

• Thieves' tools - Dexterity or Wisdom
• Mason's tools - Strength or Constitution
• Leatherworker's Tools - Dexterity or Wisdom
• Woodcarver's Tools - Dexterity or Strength
• Tinker's Tools - Intelligence + Dexterity or Wisdom
• Smith's Tools - Strength or Constitution
• Herbalism Kit - Wisdom or Intelligence

• Only 1 object can be crafted at a time.
• An item may be crafted by multiple people at the same time, each contributing their progress to the creation of the item.
• Materials required for crafting must be at least the same size of the object.

Tool Check

After a full day of crafting a tool check will be made with the according DC in the tool's description.

• Success progresses the crafting.
• Failure by 10 or less means no progress was made for the day.
• Failure by 11 or more breaks the object and consumes the materials.

Crafting Progress

Example:

• Crafting a Backpack (16su) takes 8 days using improvised tools while proficient and 4 days while expert.

Types of Crafting - NEEDS TESTING, NOT FINAL

• The CR represents the CR of the monster the material came from.

Each item has an amount of Size Units it takes.

Each Container can hold a certain amount of Size Units.

Liquid Container will measure liquid in "uses".

Example:

• A 16 Size Units Backpack may hold up to 28 Size Units, a Shortsword is 4 Size Units and can be put in the Backpack.
• Waterskin has 1 use and will satiate a person for 1 day, while a Flask of Drow Poison has 20 uses even though a Flask is smaller than Waterskin.
