Excerpts from "Tales of Alice” by Rufus the Well Travelled

There are multiple conflicting stories of the birth and early years of the The Alices. Some stories have them of noble blood, some of common origin, others of various kinds of magical descent. Details vary. However several common elements are shared across most of these tales

The Alice sisters were triplets and Red Alice was born last. Stories differ as to whether White Alice or Black Alice was the firstborn

Their mother was a powerful sorceress and most stories agree their father was the deity known as The Gentleman Many stories claim the infamous witch Baba Yaga was their mother.

The sisters were originally thought to be a single child, their mother, who was skilled in augury, had only picked out one name for them, “Alice”. Many stories claim the child was split into three through some type of supernatural meddling, usually from a deity threatened by the potential power of the unborn child.

After being surprised by triplets, one fair, one dark, one ginger, their mother proceeded to name them all Alice since “It’s a perfectly good name and should be able to stretch a bit”. They acquired their nicknames not just from their complexion but also their temperament.

The children were close as sisters and attended the same school. Many stories claim this was a school for magic, though some say it was a finishing school for young ladies. Despite these differences, all agree that upon graduating the sisters destroyed the school (usually with fire) and inflicted some terrible fate on the faculty.

Shortly thereafter the sisters had some kind of falling out (many stories claim over a shared love interest) and went their separate ways , Black Alice is usually said to have set off to the west over the sea, to The Thousand Isles White Alice to the east over the land and Red Alice remained in Valtentis.
