Sister Marigold the Winemaker was the fourth abbess of the Abbey of St Ursula. As her name suggests, she was an expert vintner and under her stewardship the wine the abbey produced became world renown.  Due to this export, the abbey grew in wealth, power and prestige during her tenure, as it's coffers overflowed with gold and silver.

She is also known as Marigold the Builder, as she used that newfound wealth to greatly expand the physical grounds of the abbey. Many of the abbey's structures were built during this period, including the great bell tower and the new chapel.

Plaque

A bronze plaque adorns this small but elegant crypt. It reads.

This is the final resting place of Abbess Marigold, 4th Abbess of the Abbey of Saint Ursula, Winemaker and Builder.  She loved the fruit of the vine greatly and was the mother to all our vintages, but she loved the souls of the poor and destitute more, and as Mithras commanded, she worked ceaselessly to care for them. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

The crypt is adorned with carved grapevines.

For the DM

Marigold sleeps soundly,

She can only be peacefully woken by Agatha the Meek or by someone pouring a decent vintage of wine out as an offering in front of her crypt.

Once woken, she will be sympathetic to the plight of the Abbey, assuming that the party makes it clear that her beloved vineyards are in danger.

In her crypt is located a case of 150 year old Ursula's Reserve, a wine which is almost priceless to the right connoisseur.  She will gift this wine if asked for it by someone who seems appreciative and can demonstrate some knowledge of winemaking.

In addition to the value of the wine, each bottle functions as a Superior Healing potion. However drinking the wine requires a constriction saving throw with a DC of 14 (+2 for each such potion consumed in a 4 hour period). Failure grants the Liquid Courage effect

Liquid courage grants you the following effects for 1d4 hours

  1. 5 temporary hit points
  2. Advantage on Charisma skill checks.
  3. Advantage on saving throws made against fear.
  4. Advantage on Charisma ability checks.

as well as:

  • Disadvantage on Wisdom and Dexterity saving throws.
  • Disadvantage on Intelligence and Wisdom skill checks.
