From the report of Pryanna Solis, captain in the Heaton City Guard.
Following the rise of the Granite Lord in the Heaton underworld, I sought alternative ways of identifying and apprehending this illusive criminal. When Glonora, an informant that has proven useful in the past, came to me with a possible lead, I decided to take a chance.
Glonora had been hired by Traril Frilstaer, a stuck-up noble fallen from grace who had been making a name for himself in the criminal realm. The Granite Lord had driven him back time and time again, and apparently, Frilstaer had managed to contact a party from "out of town" to supply him with magical weapons in his battle against the Granite Lord.
Glonora had caught wind of a possible attack by the Granite Lord and, fearing for her own safety, she hoped that I might be able to stand at the ready to protect her and arrest the Granite Lord.
I contacted Nova Amaril, Maloc and Silaqui, adventurers operating under the banner of the Raven Shield, who I had seen perform admirably in the past. They met me at a suitable stakeout location in the Docks.
Using standard procedure, I equipped Glonora with a magical listening device.
With the arrival of The Merchant, an apparent fight broke out between Traril and the Merchants' forces. Right before, I heard the Merchant speak of how he "knew this was a trap".
An enormous explosion ruptured the side of the warehouse. My colleagues stationed elsewhere in the Harbor District have elaborated on the exact time as well.
Following the blast, my compatriots stormed inside, where the survivors of the blast were about to engage in further battle. We pacified as many of them as we could, but the Merchant fled the main hall towards the docks. Nova Amaril gave chase, as did Maloc and I a few moments later. At that point in time, Glonora and another mercenary (later identified as Olav Veltruk, a local sword-for-hire) were still holding off a weakened Hobgoblin attacker. I saw no reason to worry about the outcome of that fight at that moment.
In a standoff at the docks, we managed to overpower the Merchant, with Nova delivering an incapacitating blow. The Merchant was taken into custody. As far as I can tell, we did not leave the main hall for more than 30 seconds, a minute, at most.
Upon returning, we discovered Traril in a petrified state. The Hobgoblin was deceased, apparently slain by multiple stab wounds, most likely from Glonora. Veltruk and Glonora were both motionless, later to be determined in critical condition and unconscious.
With the arrival of reinforcements, we cordoned off a crime scene as is procedure. The Raven Shield were sent away after brief treatment of their wounds, as not to further contaminate the crime scene.
We were not able to determine the nature of the weaponry that Traril intended to buy. No discernible fragments or remnants were found.
Glonora and Veltruk were transported to the chapel of Achiel nearby.
When I returned there about two hours later, near midnight, the guard and cleric on duty were both found murdered, most likely by blunt force trauma. Veltruk and Glonora were both missing.
