Session 25: One For The Books

March 5, 2021

With Nova Amaril arriving at The Hog's Head in the morning and heading straight to bed, Silaqui and Maloc set out to investigate Silaqui's prophecy.

On their way to the library, Silaqui notices new pamphlets in the city; wanted posters for a Crimson Shade and posters featuring a blue emblem.

Arriving at the library, The Raven Shield is met by a rather unenthusiastic employee, who informs them that they are to leave their weapons behind and that there is no speaking in the library.

The library itself is under the effect of a permanent Silence spell, preventing verbal communication and -casting. Investigating various shelves, Silaqui notices movement from the corner of her eye - an ink-like creature is revealed behind a shelf.

Informing the employee, the duo takes their weapons and sets out to destroy the creature. Silaqui accidentally sets part of the library on fire with a Scorching Ray, and after some miscommunication, they manage to defeat the ink creature and douse the flames.

Silaqui takes home 5 books about fairy tales, to be returned within the week.

Returning to the Hog's Head, Maloc receives a lead on the Granite Lord - a meeting to take place in a storage building that evening.

After some diligent scouting and crafty use of Invisibility and Clairvoyance, the potential recruits inform the Granite Lord's envoy that

  • The Street Hounds own Old Town
  • The Granite Lord is in control of The Grit, Craft District and is seizing The Docks now that Traril Frilstaer is dead
  • Warrior's Ward is still in control of the Red Brigade. They have been rather passive recently, but they have been courted by multiple other parties.
  • Tedonth Ath must be getting restless in the Exchange and Nobility Hill.
  • The Blackjaws have been causing a mess all over the place.

Onyx disappears into the night, as do Silaqui and Maloc.

At the Hog's Head, Silaqui digs into her newly acquired books. She discovers that, if anything, Fae prophecies are never what they seem.
