Ythogg, (ee-thok), also known as the Darkness Below and the Lord of the Deep, is a pagan god of death, especially among seafaring folk. Dying at sea is seen as being 'sent to Ythogg', and the 'Deep' is sometimes referenced as a form of hell or purgatory.
Whereas Miloa is believed to send sharks, killer whales and other sea creatures after those that draw her ire, Ythogg is believed to sent Kraken and other monstrous creatures.
To die in a storm is seen as being sent to Ythogg by Ulkar.
Unbeknownst to many sailors, the belief in Ythogg stems from Triton culture, and many aspects of belief in Ythogg can be connected to aspects of the Elemental Plane of Water.
