Taking some time to recover from their violent encounter with the guardian of the Fang Knight, Maloc and Silvayn take some leisure time at The Hog's Head.

In order to blow off some steam, Silvayn and Maloc join Nix in a game of dodgeball. Silvayn's natural aptitude for athletics proves too much, and he's almost able to defeat all other players single-handedly. As thanks, they both receive a token of gratitude, which they later turn in with a mysterious cat merchant. Silvayn receives the Banana Phone, and Maloc the Tool of Truth.
Later, they hear a rumor that Shanks, an informant who told Maloc about the location of the Granite Lord's base, has been killed.

Worried about the fate of the Raven Guard that were sent to a nearby sea cave, Maloc and Silvayn set out after them, together with Lomas, one of the Raven Guard's own.
Reaching the appointed cliffside by boat, Silvayn and Maloc swim inside and discover an elaborate cave system, bisected by a fast-flowing underground river.
Braving the river, strangling vines, an enormous crab and skeletal pirates (and collecting quite some loot on their way there, including the Blue Tearstone Ring and Brine-Burst Blade), the duo discovers 2 fallen Guardsmen and finally reach the Pathfinder's tomb and recovering the Weathered Scroll.
Suddenly, from the deep, a monstrous hydra emerges, forcing the duo on the defensive. After a tense battle, the monster dove back into the stream, giving Maloc and Silvayn some time to catch their breath.
Just as they are about to cross the river once again, the hydra reemerges, forcing the duo to find alternate paths out.
Barely managing to escape, the duo climbs on the boat outside. Right that moment, the hydra emerges one final time, smashing the boat and leaving the party knocked around the wreckage. Both Silvayn and Maloc deal serious blows, but both Silvayn and Maloc fall. It is only through Lomas' furious defence of his fallen comrades that the beast is finally slain.
Upon coming too, Silvayn discovers that Maloc died from his injuries.
