Tiefling

Cities

Shunned from high society, Tieflings do well enough walking amongst the middle and lower classes. Cities are well-known smelting pots, so it is not very odd to see a Tiefling here & there around the city. Given their salacious rumors that spread from towns, Tieflings do often make for... bordello owners, thieves, and other such darker career makers. This does not prevent from gathering up the secrets of both high and low society, as they are coveted for as much as they are hated or shunned most times they are desired either by fate, magic, or their own charms. 

Towns

Many travel in trade towns do see their fair share of Tieflings and have pretty mixed feelings towards them. As Tieflings are still known to be omen-bringers, they are either seen as the necessary monsters to drive away other monsters or sources of temptations themselves. For many a town, their opinions of Tieflings flip depending on if the latest Tiefling visitor happens to bring good tidings or tried to solve interesting magic conundrums coming up from time to time. It is a guarantee though that when a Tiefling rolls into town, they are sure to be the talk of it for a bit - gaining the ire of men and women respectively, or, their... darker interest. For rumors do spread of Tieflings'... "versatility," given how each one is arranged slightly differently depending on horns..tails...tongues. Many people try to brag about some of their night time encounters with Tieflings, many of them foolishly wrong. But... for some who know can tell the obvious signs of a TRUE encounter. Nary a few missteps the next day, or seeming time off due to strenuous circumstances. 

Outskirts

Tieflings are often confused for devils, understandably, and are thought of as 'ill-omens,' vile plague-bringers or the most obvious culprit to any abduction of younger women. It takes a lot for Tieflings to be accepted by a small community having to overcome the most basic of prejudices. Even if they do tolerate a Tiefling's existence, it never necessarily means the Tiefling is welcome. 

The Virtue Shawl made by Tieflings are either for themselves or for a loved one, the shawl embodies the same principles or virtue name that the gift recipient has chosen, the shawls are transformative items that are meant to further enhance the life of the recipient.While technically called a "shawl", the item itself just needs to be an accessory that can have different designs tracked on it. These items are usually modified and updated over the course of a Tiefling's life.

The first shawl a Tiefling gets is the one that denotes their Virtue name and has some representation on it. For example a Tiefling with a virtue name of Truth would have some insignias of laws or even full passages of the rule of law etched on their shawl.

If the giver is capable, it is common to infuse some magic into the shawl to make it more useful to the tiefling in upholding that name. Some common enchantments are protections or physical enhancements but for the savvy, being able to transmute the shawl into a tool or weapon is the most common fad.

Not all of them have to be magic, but people given the right to add to the shawl holds meaning for the Tiefling. This is an act of being seen as part of the tieflings family, especially since Tieflings are slow to trust.

A tiefling's first shawl is usually given by friends or family. For a tiefling to give a virtue shawl to another none tiefling would be seen as either adoption or entanglement, either way it is a signifier that the Tiefling wants this person in their life.

Dragonborn Inflections

The Dragonborn view Tieflings with careful consideration the horns & tail give a familiarity; most see Tieflings as merely scaleless Dragonborn coming with the implied ability to "keep up" with Dragonborn in their day-to-day lives. Failure doing so usually just makes a Tiefling look weak an thought to be a child or someone in need of protecting or leaving behind. Depending on the clan of Dragonborn, if you don't upon first task prove yourself capable you're likely to forever be treated as someone necessary to stay behind for the upkeep an slight physical labor jobs within the clan despite any knowledge or practical skills you have. 

Human Inflections

First and foremost with the negative implications of devil or demon -touched, in town spaces most Humans stay away from you. Merchants shall remain amiable as business is business, but many other private businesses may not service you for a myriad of ridiculous reasons to justify them not liking you. Best case scenario you are likely to be shunned, and only have one or two people following you for whatever nefarious purposes. Worst case scenario you could be trapped or captured if unable to properly defend yourself. Depending on your gender, these mobs could be either to flank you an drive you out of the city or drive you into their bedrooms. There never seems to be any in-between. 

Elven Inflections

Keep Tieflings as capture on sight, for a Tiefling is ALWAYS trouble. Unbeknownst to them or mayhaps in a case they may never want to admit it. Tieflings are captured for some of the reasons as Humans do, be it luxurious partnerships as their magical abilities DO peak the interest of the Elves... or a potential plague as their presence can draw the attention of other demonic forces threatening to seduce & corrupt the public morale... and the men & women. 

Dwarf Inflections

Stubborn troublemakers! Dwarfs are more outspoken about their displacement of Tieflings for any that DO come across a Dwarf you're either a demonseed or just a walking forge fire. For a Dwarf showing either signs of one or the other can mark you & any Tieflings you associate with as either good or bad. At first sign that you bring any sort of a cult to their clans & you are marked forever as a danger to be shunned or driven out. Show your fire hot enough to melt iron, an they'll see you as a potential crafting partner - first impressions are always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS important for a Tiefling meeting a Dwarf an should not be taken lightly. While they do not interact much for those on the outside, those they DO interact with get their name spread around quickly.
