- Everything listed on the Elfkin page.
- Heightened resistance to magic. They are injured less by magical effects, and have a better chance of resisting them. This is doubly true for anything that would affect their mind, even if the magic is friendly.
- Unlike the Wood Elf and Älfar who attune to crystals very rarely, the Yōseien seem to bind with them even more readily than humans. However, no Yōseien Jesnite mages have ever been recorded, and all known Yōseien mages have been elementalists.
- Mind-altering substances don't work as well on them mentally, but they experience more physical side effects. (So a drunk Yōseien is extra clumsy and nauseous but no more likely to giggle, hug, fight, etc. than they would normally)
- Many seem to be able to run much faster and for longer than other races. They also tend to jump higher and further, and land on their feet in a cat-like way, making them less likely to get hurt in a fall.
- They have exceptionally quick reflexes with their hands, but holding onto anything metal seems to negate this.
- The Yōseien have the ability to meditate deeply, potentially learning to do the following things with various degrees of success. They need daily meditation in order to be able to keep doing this frequently.
- Trance: With training and practice, they can trance instead of sleep, maintaining awareness of their surroundings as they rest. The most practiced eliminate the need for sleep entirely and forget how to dream. Some trance sometimes but still need to periodically sleepy. Almost everyone can replace sleep with trance for one night if they have had a little bit of practice.
- Ignore pain: The most skilled can ignore pain completely while meditating.
- Negate panic: When a Yōseien gets an adrenaline rush, it might occur to them to stay focused. If it does, they can take a few seconds to breathe deep and center themselves. If successful, their judgement is less compromised by fear and panic. They can use this to negate the Älfar fear effect.
- The Yōseien were once Wood Elves, as described in World History. Most of them live in Xianxou and practice Enquethir.
- They generally have black, gray, or white hair. Their eyes can be any color.
- They speak a dialect of Elven which is mostly understandable to their western cousins. It sounds a little bit more like Xianxoese and is written with Xianxoese letters instead of Ascelic ones.
- Elmani with Yōseien ancestry are called Han-yo.
- In general, they are pretty libertarian. They value freedom, self expression, and patience. They think they value tolerance, but at the end of the day, they aren’t very good at it. They are particularly averse to change.
- Most Yōseien are either nomadic or settled. The wandering type value individual self-sufficiency, whereas the city type might place a higher value on overall balance of dependence in the community even if there exist individual members who wouldn’t make it on their own.
- Children are raised very slowly and carefully, and encouraged to take their time figuring things out for themselves, and to try many different things until they find out what they’re good at and what they like to do.
- Most like to sample learning many different things instead of specializing. They are less industrious in nature than most other races, and are less open to change and innovation. When it comes to hobbies and trades, they have a tendency to pick something up for a while, carefully and contemplatively theorize about what potentially can be done with it, get bored, and move onto something else. They tend to be jack of all trades master of none.
- Many Yoseien like to meditate.
- Society is agrarian and technologically behind.
- They love tea. When you enter someone's home, they must offer you tea, and you must accept it and stay for at least one cup. The tea can never be poison as that is an insult to tea!
