Verina

daughter of Idas of Ouránios

Verina is the eldest daughter but fifth child of the merchant prince Idas of Ouránios.  Having taken an interest in the family business, Verina knows her way around a sale, especially where weapons and armor are concerned.  A fair few runeforged weapons have passed through her family's hands.  If you're going to sell weapons, you better know something about how they're used, so Verina actually knows a lot about fighting and combat, in a theoretical sense anyway.  When she was in her teenage years, she made herself a decent amount of extra pocket money betting on gladiators.  Leveraging her past success and eye for warriors, Verina managed to borrow a little bit of money from each of her brothers, promising them a return on their investment, in order to acquire a few gladiators of her own. She paid them back and made profits within two years.

Most people say Verina really should have married someone by now, but her suitors have either found her intimidating or been deemed not good enough.  Her little habit of wanting to be extra safe by bringing her personal guard into her room at night might have something to do with her apathy toward becoming a spinster.

Verina is very religious, following Aenetrism but also sympathetic to Path of Seno and very intolerant of Lysonism.  She is certain that she was a valiant warrior in not one but several of her past lives.  Though she rarely wishes actual harm on anyone, she loves a good fight for sport, and even seems to be a good coach for it even if she can't really hold her own in a fight.

Skills

Languages: Dolari, Dwarven, Tongues (per Moonkin).  She decided to learn Dwarven because she felt like the runesmiths would take to her a little better if she spoke their language than if she were speaking in Tongues.

Strengths: Persuasive, good speaker, leadership, quick thinker.  She is pretty sure she must have spent several of her past lives as valiant warriors, because although she lacks the physical strength to be any kind of fighter, she has an eye for fighting.  She can often look at two fighters and predict which one will win, and can give a man the right words of encouragement to figure out how to best his opponent. As such, she's spent some time by the gladiator pits.

Weaknesses:  And when I say she likes the gladiator pits, I mean she really likes gladiators...

Physical Capabilities: Dainty and frail and lacking in physical strength. Not very quick or nimble, but she's an excellent flier when she pops out her wings.  She is also a decent shot with her bow, thanks to her training and her special bow, Anōthen, and not so much because of actual talent.

Magic

Tongues
Verina understands all languages.  When she speaks in Tongues, the sounds she makes sound other-worldly and impossible for mortals to replicate.

Summon
When you speak her True Name, you are attempting to summon her.  She can choose to go, or she can attempt to refuse the call, which is a battle of wills.  When you summon her, she would disappear where she is and reappear where you called her.  She can always hear when you speak her True Name, and anything you say for a few seconds after.

Darkvision
As long as neither of the two moons are in the New Moon phase, Verina can see in the dark.  She calls the moonlight to reflect off of hereyes, causing them to glow slightly.  This is not enough to light the way for those who struggle in the dark, but it's enough to make her easy to spot. The effectiveness of this is dependent on the phases of the moons. If both moons are in the New phase, then she is actually all worse-off than humans in the dark!

Wings
She can summon her wings at will.  They are feathered, and the same color as her eyes.

Test

Ansim

Born a slave in Aegeptus, and raised to be a loyal soldier to whoever would come to own him life was less than grand for the young Aegi. Marked as low caste by his human blood he knew only strife in the training pits of his desert homeland. But amidst such hardship he had his pack. A tight knit group of others that trained and fought side by side. Though the slave soldiers of Aegeptus are trained to be sold eventually it’s common practice to bloody them in service to the Pharoh. Thus he had seen a fair share of fighting and war before he was purchased and sent across the sea. Such a life can and will wear down many but Ansim has always been easy going and carefree, as much as he can get away with at least. Happy to simply be with friends and those he cares for nothing ever seems to bring the Jackal down. Then one day Him and his pack were bought by a merchant prince of Dolar. The republic was a common place for his kind to end up serving as guards for the various princes. And so he came to serve in the household guard of one such prince where he managed to catch the eye of one of his daughters. Fairly quickly he was promoted to her personal guard, and he has hardly left her side since. Where ever Verina goes Ansim will follow eager to serve her.
