Khariis Yiat-Madec

Khariis Madec-Yiat is an actress of the Floating Palace of Teraat. While she has had many notable roles, many people criticize that her personal life often overshadows her professional work.

The Yiat name, while a noble one highly connected at the Tezetan court, has long been associated with a patronage of the arts. The house has even brought in some artists and performers with particularly exceptional talent through marriage, with one notable example being Khariis's paternal grandmother the acclaimed (singer? composer?), Name. Children of Yiat blood, however, had never attempted a career in the arts, or anything outside of their noble duty to the court and dabblings in finances or industries suitable to their station before Khariis.

Though Khariis was able to afford tutors who could provide her an incredibly rigorous and thorough teaching of the history and methodology of her chosen craft, she initially found few productions who would invite her to join them. Her name, and the fear of scandal and undue attention it might bring, left many in the very traditionally-minded Teraat unwilling to take the risk.

Traditional mindset, however, is not something normally associated with Nihnsahiid Osada. Pieced together from various interviews, it seems as if the two women had known of each other previously--to be expected due to their similar ages and activity in the court--but did not become close until a game at a party showcased some of Khariis's talent in front of the Koyan Princess. Nihnsahiid Osada asked if Khariis wanted to work on one of the princess's public good projects.

Through these projects, Khariis became one of the most recognizable offworld celebrities in Koyo Isu and accidentally turned her into one of the few foreigners with true insight into Koyan culture as she learned to differentiate different and mimic their regional accents, studied their art, and traveled there more frequently and to a larger percentage of the world than many were allowed for official political or research business.

Her working relationship with Nihn eventually became a romantic one, and their relationship quickly captured the interest and imagination of much of the sector. It was the first time many had seen royalty--or even nobility--in front of a camera with their lover in a way that wasn't a very brief entrance at a fundraiser or something similarly well-controlled. The wild public speculation over the couple's body language and chemistry got to Nihn, and she eventually stopped appearing in front of the camera in projects with Khariis. This in turn led to a slight decrease in projects Khariis could do, and likely led to a massive spike in Khariis's jealousy over Nihn's attention toward other women in her life, particularly Kamina Kharagi.
