Silchik, often referred to as Reptilian in the common tongue, is a complicated and enigmatic language originally created by the god Coritem for personal use, and later adopted by his creations. It is widely considered the most difficult tongue to learn in all of Maradul, but its mastery is prized among creators of magic for its unparalleled specificity, which can help refine magic shaped from verbal or written designs. Worshipers of Coritem often endeavor to learn silchik in order to better entreat their god for favors.

Silchik is the mother tongue of all Dragons, who are born with a complete understanding of it, alongside other direct creations of Coritem. Dragons particularly seem fond of creating new words or incepting words from other languages into silchik, an act which Coritem has referred to as "a terrible loss" as it makes it difficult for pure speakers to understand. As a result, many dragons end up misunderstanding each other, leading to a number of feuds based solely on poor interpretations of conversations. Many derivative species of reptiles are known to speak a somewhat simplified and truncated form of silchik, which Coritem appears to have a particular disdain for.
