As a Beastkin born in Cyprus during the time of the curse, Darius lived his early life hiding, much like the rest of his people, seldom venturing outside of the underground enclaves of The Beastking's Court. Like many young men who grew up within the Court and were raised on tales of how a Beastkin's strength must be used in their service of their people, Darius joined the King's guard as soon as he came of age. After only a few months of service however, it became apparent to both Darius and those he served under that he was ill-suited to the life of a soldier. His weak affinity hadn't gifted him with any great power, merely a keen eye and an uncanny sense of direction, and while he was agile enough and a skilled shot with a bow, he frequently fell short of his sisters and brothers in the guard: something which could prove dangerous in a culture which so highly prized strength such as theirs. Though he feared for his place within the Court, Darius' fortunes would change suddenly when he was summoned to a meeting with The Tierkonig himself, who entrusted him with a covert mission: to infiltrate the recently formed human organization C.S.I.B. and report back to the court on their activities.
He took on the assignment with enthusiasm, working his way into the organization with a surprising ease, and quickly set to his task of providing intelligence, happy to finally be able to serve his people in the way he felt that he always should. Through his work with the other agents of C.S.I.B. and beyond, Darius would soon come to realize that humans were far more complicated than the simple villains that his upbringing had taught him to believe and began to wonder if there wasn't a way forward for their peoples than as enemies. When it came to pass that his role as spy was revealed shortly before the collapse of C.S.I.B. and The Tierkonig's death, he also came to realize that he had been chosen for this task not for his ability but rather because he was considered to be expendable by the Court. He survived this outing with the help of his friend Cecil Forrester among others and, in doing so, left both the Beastking's court and C.S.I.B. behind, choosing instead to follow Cecil in his founding of The Knights of the Storm Lantern.
Darius was appointed to The Realm Council only recently, and is still somewhat finding his footing within The Hub. In his time there he has shown himself to be dedicated to the interests of Terra and his people, but also deeply committed to the peace of The Realms beyond simply serving Terra's interests. Despite his commitment to the cause, he's far from the most gifted of statesmen, and his retiring nature has proven challenging to some of the other councilors. Despite that, most agree that he has a good heart and a desire to help all that he can, for better or for worse.
