The Age of Gods
Legends tell of a time before man when the gods alone walked the earth, spending their days in peaceful creation and shaping the lands upon which people now walk. It is said by some that the gods only created the peoples out of a sense of loneliness, though if that was truly the case then the later horrors they visited upon their children become all the more cruel. Though the the truth of this age may forever remain shrouded in mystery, there is no shortage of myths and legends recounting the adventurous tales of the gods and their exploits many of which live on today in the form of folk tales or bits of interesting historical trivia, in spite of the gods current reputation.

The years following the Shattering were a time of incredible change for nearly every facet of what remained of the world before. The lands of the world were now divided, and with them so too were the beings who inhabited them. Freed from the obligations and purpose laid upon them by the Gods, the people's minds turned inward, focused now on forging their own paths in this new world. For some that meant casting aside all that had defined them during the long years of the Godswar, able now to decide on their own terms the forms and values of their societies, while others became only more entrenched in their ways built around violence and bloodshed, unable to let go of all that had so long made them who they are. But there were peoples still who simply vanished, lost within the countless realms created by the Shattering, yet to be found to this day.
Though the Realms would remain separated for years following the Shattering, it would not be long before people began to discover the rifts that connected them and learned how to harness and widen them into full Gateways, enabling new paths of travel and trade between the Realms. While all Realms seem to posses at least one Gateway out of them, it was the discovery of the Hub realm that truly began the rebuilding of community between the Realms. Unique in that it houses a Gateway to every known Realm, the Hub has grown to become a meeting place of trade and culture between the Realms, serving as many people's first ever opportunity to even meet someone outside of their own kind away from the battlefield, and it is with the help of it's leadership that a careful peace has been maintained since the rejoining.
