Description: Xan-Yae is the goddess of Twilight, Shadows, and Stealth, and espouses a doctrine of perfection and balance. Twilight is the balance between the extremes of light and darkness, and the power to balance those extremes into harmony is the key to the universe. Enlightenment is not achieved without struggle and surmounting of obstacles, and mystery shrouds the path. But there is no harmony without discord, and Xan-Yai is not above sowing such discord to ensure the potential for learning is there.
Seeing this tendency toward balance, it is no wonder that dusk is considered to be Xan Yae's holiest hour. All church rituals are performed during twilight; clerics voice their daily prayers for spells at this time. Xan Yae espouses stealth because to move without being detected requires both discipline and skill. There is no cause for flamboyance or wasted energy in the doctrine of the Mistress of Perfection. All movements are economic and precise.
Xan Yae cares little for the bickering between gods, and even less for the petty plights of men. In order to salvage existence from both the zealous efforts of good and the inexorable tug of evil, Xan Yae works within the shadows to strengthen the fragile balance between darkness and light. Xan Yae charges the monks, priests, and psionicists who worship her with the quiet task of seeking out the extremes of good and evil and tempering them with harmony. Xan Yae is not a passive power, but actively pursues an agenda which will ensure the ongoing stability of life.
Xan-Yae usually appears as a young acrobat or martial artist, always equipped with two blades. She is seen as a woman of plain appearance and no readily identifiable traits or attributes, however, after the fact she is always described as astoundingly beautiful in an undefinable way.
Tenets of the Faith:
- Balance is key in all things, there is no perfection in excess.
- Mysteries are both a path and a goal, do not give knowledge too easily.
- The extremes of evil and good must be sought out and tempered with harmony to maintain balance.
