Varthlokker was the seventh son of a seventh son, and a prince of the Wensharian empire. Naturally gifted in magic and scholarly pursuits, his gifts soon exceeded those of his more warlike brethren.

He was the author of Varthlokker’s Penultimate Guide to Summoning and Binding , considered to be the definitive guide to conjuration techniques/countermeasures of all time.

Prior to and during the Wensharian civil war he sided against his evil family and with the rebellion, saving many lives. Betrayed by one of his brothers during a battle with the diabolist sorcerer Niavin, he was slain and disappeared.

Later it was rumored that he had risen from the dead in order to continue his battle against the remnants of the Wensharian empire, known today as the Anguis Imperium.

While Varthlokker started on the side of good, the tales of his battles and undying hatred of the Wensharian empire that betrayed him slowly grew more grim and expedient.

Today, the tales say Varthlokker is a lich, plotting against the evil serpent empire with a hatred that blinds him to the results of his actions, and that this tragic figure may be entirely capable of destroying the country he once saved in order to destroy the other.
