Stellar Phenomenon Report, 05 Febrile 510 PE, Year of the Stars

"Per our investigation on astronomical anomalies and reputed planar 'mergings' we have come to several apparently incongruous facts that at this point defy explanation, yet are observable phenomenon.

  • Stars and Planets have apparently somehow shifted in relation to each other. This has occurred in a somewhat (to be imprecise) circular patternThe result is a measurable variance in the emanation of energies from some of these realms.
  • This has the affect of some realms becoming closer than they were, and in addition has somewhat weakened the barriers between realms
  • An odd and somewhat obscured symbol of purple to green fire has been faintly detected within the observed rotation pattern, of unknown origin and provenance.
  • Specific changes in the ether (as claimed by Vengheri Astralisar, elven sage of dubious 'Eldar' descent ) are as such:
    1. Conjuration spells and/or abilities that summon creatures are more difficult to cast. (by product of weak veil allowing such creatures to resist?)
    2. Banishment is harder or less effective (see above).

It is my considered opinion, bolstered by conjecture from Vengheri and Researcher Phineas, that these affects could grow more severe with more and sustained misalignment of the standard stellar/astral layout."

Further findings and clarification upon observed stellar phenomenon concerning "Symbol of Binding, Shothragot"

The focus of eldritch powers siphoned from stellar conjunctions and ley lines has both strengthened summoned creatures resistance to abjuration, but also disrupted banishment upon the subjects of such energies.  To which, based on the exponential growth of power and unnatural conjoining of signs, we postulate the following;

  • There are/will be four stages of power escalation until the ultimate conjunction, we are currently in the "faint" phase (see previous data)
  • We predict moving to "moderate" phase sometime this week.
  • Moderate:   As faint, but in addition, summoned creatures no longer return to their native planes. When a summoning spell or effect's duration expires, the summoned  creature is no longer under the summoner's control. Additionally, any spell or effect that involves teleportation has a 20% chance of a mishap. On a mishap, each teleporting creature or object takes 16 (3d10) force damage, and may be slightly off target.
  • Strong: As moderate, but the chance of a mishap when teleporting increases to 40%. In addition, spells and other effects that contact extraplanar beings (such as the contact other plane spell and the Divine Intervention cleric feature) cease to function.
  • Overwhelming:  All summoning and teleportation spells and effects cease to function.

Normally timelines for conjunctions and alignments would be easily calculated with great precision, however, the unnatural bending of cosmic forces introduces minor GREAT (palantir) uncertainty, especially in later stages.  However it with great confidence we have produced these findings:

  • Faint was early Febrile.
  • Moderate 21, 22, 23, Marche
  • Strong last week of Maeve
  • Overwhelming last half of Jules?

Researcher Phineas would like it known that after significant research, he asserts that this power could be used and turned against itself in some fashion.  Seeing as we have no concept of the forces origin, the rest of us find that dubious at best.
