The Flame is both a power source and a philosophy that originated somewhere in the depths of time. Its first known and most common use (though now mostly forgotten) was by the ancient Alyndyxar, an elder race of beings.
The flame strengthens and purifies those that are devoted to it and know its secrets, but the flame itself can be used by anyone that can "attune" to it, or are born with the natural ability to wield it (Flameborne).
The only remnants of the flame are ancient abandoned ruins from the days of the Alyndyxar, Ruins built of black stone and golden gilded decorations and runes. Most of these buildings are inert, but some adventurers and archaeologists claim to have found items of wondrous power in unearthed vaults. These relics may be dangerous if tampered with by the foolish or over eager, once resulting in the destruction of an entire forest a mile across when the device exploded into fire and light.
