A void device that empowers the wielder to cast various teleportation style spells. The galvanometer does not use the Astral Plane like most teleportation spells and abilities, but emits a dark shroud of energy that transforms and reduces everything being "teleported" into a tiny particle of negative energy that can access the boundless The Void and re-appear nearly anywhere.
Draft: Anyone using or being affected by the galvanometer suffers from their exposure to the void. They gain 1 point of taint per level of spell used. X levels of taint result in a level of exhaustion and possibly mutations/psychosis.
Galvanometer Effects: The galvanometer has 20 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to cast a spell from the list below. Expend 1 or more charges equal to the level of the spell being cast, using your spell save DC. Misty Step (2), Vortex Warp (2), Dimension Door (4), Far Step (5), Teleport (7). Due to the nature of the Void, the caster has a +20 to their teleportation result roll.
The galvanometer regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily after a long rest. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the galvanometer goes dormant for 1d4 days, losing all powers until it recovers.
