Ringing both the Positive and Negative Energy Planes are a group of scattered great towers, massive structures of the heaviest elemental metallic stone available. These towers extend into the Energy planes on thin peninsulas so narrow in some places that a normal humanoid could touch the Energy plane on either side.
In most cases these towers are abandoned, but occasionally powerful creatures may be found inside; high level wizards, druids researching the nature of the Energy planes, or even exiled Powers from other realms.
The origin and purpose of these towers are as yet unknown, but it is noted that the intrusions of the Energy planes do not seem to overcome the peninsulas or the area of the towers.
The basic structure of the towers seems to be composed of an adamantine style stone/metal with crystalline elements. The crystalline elements are more abundant near the top of the tower. Portions of the towers appear oddly segmented, as if they could shift or spin to change their configuration, although no evidence of this has been seen.
It is conjectured that there are eight of these towers in total, one for each of the elemental borders adjoining the energy planes, although only three have been confirmed; one in the realm of radiance, one in the realm of minerals, and one in the realm of ash. Of these, the one in the realm of radiance is the most famous, as legends speak of a great couatl that has dwelled there since times unknown.
