Background
Tieflings were looked upon with suspicion after the fall of the Wensharian Empire. Given that the royal families had been associated with the civil war. And certainly Sara's heritage was of royal blood, there was no way her family had originated in this decrepit town on the edge of the wilderness.
Sara was orphaned when her parents did not return from a suspiciously normal gnoll patrol. There were no survivors of the patrol, and when the news reached the town of Lowdale, she was taken in by an elderly spinster of the Tuathan Church. Soon her days of excruciating boredom, doing chores to help provide for her meals, and running errands for the spinster Agatha loomed in front of her like eternity.
She started hanging out in the afternoons with the younger children of the "thieves' guild", learning to hide, sneak, and scuttle about. But this relieved her boredom only for a short time, after all, was she not above such things, weren't her parents the descendants of exiled nobility? She began to follow Agatha on her early morning herb gathering trips, and became enamored with the darker portions of the forest. The ominous shadows on all sides suited her, she thought.
Darkness was her cloak, and clothing. She skulked around the edges of town and forest, gaining a reputation of ominous repute. When the guards eventually confronted her, she swore inwardly that she would have her revenge. That night, she used to skills to perfect a dark purple eyeshadow that grandma (ahem Agatha), had taught her. As she looked into the mirror, she saw a spark of red fire in hers eyes, and proclaimed herself "Destiny Shadowfire, The Orphan of Shadows".
