The monastic followers of The Pantheon developed and maintained the ancient practice of tattooing magical effects onto people and creatures.
Of these techniques the most famous, although now mostly forgotten, was the inscribing of tattoos that provided magic resistance (advantage on saving throws against all other spells and magical effects) and counterspell (reaction) ability to the bearer.
The tattooist can inscribe an Asura tattoo at whatever level they are capable of casting the spell. The most powerful tattoos are limited to a 6th level counterspell effect.
The source of the magics that allow the creation of Asura tattoos are said to be otherworldly and extremely esoteric.
