The Grey Guard, commonly known as Strongarm’s Lot, is a disciplined mercenary company founded by the stoneskin orc Gavun Strongarm in Fairstead. Identified by their simple banner (a raised fist on a storm-gray field) they offer protection, training, and escort services to anyone who can pay an honest wage. While not bound to the town guard, they frequently assist them and are viewed favourably by both settlers and officials for their fairness, restraint, and strong internal code that Gavun has instilled in them. The company accepts recruits from all walks of life, favoring strength of character over pedigree. Though rival mercenary crews view them as overly principled, the Grey Guard continues to grow as a trusted force in Fairstead’s frontier life.
