A part of the Regus Thieves Guild, this drow is more of a back-alley sawbones than a tender-hearted, godly healer.

Gwyrin grew up in the cutthroat Underworld of Dur'nen, the daughter of a riding-lizard trader. Though she was meant to learn the work and take over the family business one day, it was not to be, as the lethal interference of a rival merchant led to the downfall of both Gwyrin's family and way of life.

Forced to lay low, the drow woman learned to survive on the outskirts, falling in with a group of criminals just to stay afloat. Her familiarity with local merchants' habits, contacts, and resources made her a boon to this organization; trust, however, is ever-strained in the city of Dur'nen.

Among the criminals, Gwyrin spoke often with an escaped slave who'd lived in Emberwood before his untimely capture. The man, Chessentan-born, taught her the ways of medicine, the mundane patching of wounds, and the gods that both preserved and cursed him with his lot in life. Hermes, in particular, caught her ear; a protector of thieves and travelers alike.

Gwyrin became curious of these stories of a far-up land. Though she toyed with the idea of visiting the surface, she never made the leap... until her own reckless choices forced her hand.

When an opportunity to strike out at her old family enemy presented itself, Gwyrin took it; she slit the throat of the now-petty-noble, and went on the run. Abandoning the rest of the criminal organization, the drow reached out only to the Chessentan ex-slave, working with him to find a way out of the Underdark.

A winding, twisting road presented itself to her; though the Chessentan eventually made his way back to Emberwood, the drow struggled to imagine finding a place in such an idyllic woodland. Her own travels brought her to Regus, where she was careful to remain oft-cloaked and keep to herself.

When the local Thieves Guild sniffed out her secret, however, she began to make herself useful with what skills she'd learned in Dur'nen; subtlety, ruthlessness, information-trading, mistrust, and, most importantly, medicine. Though many a thief was good at the former, few knew how to properly patch a wound when a heist or blackmail went sour.

Slowly but surely, Gwyrin found her path as a Cleric of Hermes, god of travelers and thieves, the god that she hoped might watch over her in the travels to come. After surviving the sacking of Regus by giant worm and drow raider alike, she certainly felt like she needed a little divine looking-after; if the city's survivors hadn't hated drow before, she didn't like the odds of a target on her back now. Some masks were better left on.
