Seameet (Village)

The village of Seameet resides on the North-Eastern shores of Falanar, about two day's ride north of Regus.
Population
Seameet has a modest population of mostly humans, though there are some half-elves, dwarves, and halflings. Most notably, and perhaps unusually, the majority of the half-elves found in Seameet have Aquatic Elf ancestry.
History
When Seameet was first settled some time ago, the fishing of early villagers caught the attention of their neighbors: an Aquatic Village just off of the coast, comprised mostly of Aquatic Elves. Unsustainable fishing practices led to prolonged, if mostly bloodless, conflict between the two groups for many years.
After the village's most successful sea captain nearly met his end upon the stormy seas, spared only by an Aquatic Elf who rescued him from imminent drowning, the two villages came together to negotiate, and in the end, the elves offered to show the humans better ways of fishing particularly for the area's bountiful sponges.
Thus, rather than harvest sponges with string, hook and tearing, the villagers began sponge-diving, harvesting sponges with the precise cut of a knife so as to encourage regrowth. The close proximity and natural curiosity coaxed many of the Aquatic Elves, traditionally isolationist, to maintain relations with the prominently human village, and to this day, it is not uncommon to see the odd web-eared visitor peering up from the docks for a morning's chat with a local fisherman.
Trade
Seameet's main trade is fishing, but it is best known for its sponge-fishing. Sponges exported from Seameet can be found across the continent, used for bathing, hygiene, and as applicators for paint and ceramic glazes.
Defense
As a village of humble fisher-folk, farmers and tradesmen, Seameet has few defenses. It is said, however, that the last time brigands targeted the village for robbery and extortion, the leader of the brigands was found drowned at water's edge, and that the odd thug in seedy taverns along the coast swears in hushed tones to never venture near the waters where village meets sea.
