Qu’urok

Jedi Knight

“Effort without direction is pointless- that is to say, be mindful of why, not just what.”

Backstory

Traversing the stars since birth, Qu'urok had a grasp on the complexities of those who inhabited it since he'd learned to speak. Unusually calm for a whiphid, he often found himself settling the differences between those in his crew, establishing himself as the unspoken mediator. Working aboard a cargo ship, he spent most of his childhood and well into his adulthood simply going from Point A to Point B, from landing pad 27 to loading bay 8. He was lulled into the monotony of this life, never questioning his purpose beyond securing shipments and satisfying the needs of his higher ups. The crew he served with, however, argued constantly and needlessly, complaining about the ship, their route, the people... any and all things their senses could detect birthed a complaint. Often times he was sought out to solve these dealings, and overtime Qu'urok grew to accept this as his role internally. The more his crew relied on him, the more he began to view them as his family, albeit subconsciously.

Accidents were far and few between aboard his ship. But as they were about to take off on their first route of their new contract, Qu'urok felt the ship tear apart from the middle seconds before the first groan of the ship buckling under its own weight vibrated throughout the hull. Operating on pure instinct alone, Qu'urok could only describe it as a daze as he rushed toward the tear, gripping the handles on either side of the ship and pulling it together, shouting for a tech to weld it shut before he lost his grip. When they didn't come, Qu'urok felt hopeless, eventually surrendering to the trance-like state that soon enveloped him, before losing consciousness entirely.Waking up in the medbay of his docking center, Qu'urok was surrounded by his crewmates, along with an unsuspecting human - Luke Skywalker. Saying no more than "just watch," Luke played back the video from the surveillance camera, playing back what Qu'urok was not conscious to see:

Pulling the ship together as his head lulled defying any reason to what he was supposed to be able to do, Qu'urok looked as if something had briefly taken hold of him, willing the splitting ship to merge once again. It was just as he was about to lose his grip that a tech rushed in, welding the tear shut before catching him as he fell.
He couldn't believe his eyes, scoffing initially that it was some elaborate joke. No one smiled in return, rather... Luke sat down next to him. Qu'urok's heart raced as the gravity of the situation hit him: Luke Skywalker wanted to enlist him as a Jedi. Explaining to him what Force Sensitivity was, he realized it was influencing his life, not just saving it this one time. Qu'urok agreed, the only question for Luke being, "When can I start?"

Appearence
Qu'rok is a thirty eight year old male Whiphid. His right eye is scarred over, and always has his hair up in a Qui-Gon bun (you know the one). Lithe for a Whiphid.
Personality

Qu’urok is the quiet outgoing type. He’s not boisterous but enjoys intentional company, and doesn’t have the social battery problem (except for if you wake him up). He finds spoiled/silver-spooned individuals insufferable and will say so, but always in an elegant way. He almost never raises his voice, rather lowers his voice when he’s aggravated. He’s obsessed with his favorite HoloNet show, “The Broken Transmitter”, an ongoing rom-com. He’s eloquently spoken, but has semi-often slips that reveal his spacer past.

Skillset & Role

Qu’urok is a fighter at heart, but in his career as a Jedi Knight, the word “fight” has developed a different meaning for him. He’s trained in Shii-Cho, and has taken the form to such an extent that it has become something of a unique form to him. He’s specialized in skirmishes, warfare, negotiations and diplomacy. He can switch between full on aggro and supporting the party with Suppress. His main form of interaction outside of combat is being a face. He loves engaging in discourse, and is exceptional at convincing his targets to take his side. If he’s being utilized, it’s because there’s a new force tradition that’s been discovered, a revolt has broken out (he will only help out if he’s helping those revolting), or to protect settlements and villages from raiders.
