Farahl (Mentor)

Jedi Knight

“If you cannot take pride in it, do not do it at all.

Backstory

Raised on Saki in a typical manner for his people, Farahl grew to see honour and pride as the two pillars that held up everything both in his culture, and in his life. Even amongst his people, his strict adherence to the honour codes was considered dogmatic, if admirable for its own sake. He carried this strong belief into his life both as a hunter on Saki and eventually as a hunter beyond it. Primarily, he sought to hunt the most dangerous prey that he could, offering his services primarily as a big game hunter and expert. His personal distaste for the Empire (and their distaste for him as a non-human) meant that he stuck mostly to the Outer Rim, and so avoided the Galactic Civil War as it raged around the galaxy. Instead, he spent decades in nature, communing with all sorts of creatures and even different peoples, seeing how they had their own ideals and convictions. With time, he came to admire the resilience of not only the beasts of the galaxy, but the non-Sakiyan sentients as well.

After so long isolated from society, he was found and approached by a Jedi, who told him that his connection and understanding of the animals he hunted was not just mere intuition, but the force working through him, and that he could grow to understand it more deeply. Intrigued by this idea, he travelled to Dantooine, learning from the Order and slowly coming to see their ideals as, in some ways, just as honourable as that of his home. Determined to act as an elder Sakiyan in a pride is expected, he now acts not only to provide for the Order and carry out its mission, but guide its younger members to be even greater than him.

Appearence

Farahl is a middle aged male Sakiyan with a particuarly large cranium who happens to always have an unamused scowl.

Personality

Farahl can be acerbic and stern, and seems to put a high stake on both personal honour and pride; he believes that someone should be proud of what they do, and of the things they accomplish. That they should not put themselves down or play down their achievements, at the risk of dishonouring themselves and the people associated with them. He applies many of the Sakiyan cultural traditions to his life as a Jedi, and it annoys him when others do not live up to those standards, even if he doesn’t always say it explicitly.

Skillset & Role

Farahl tends to have a very straightforward and by-the-book approach to most problems. He sees the most straightforward path and takes it. He is particularly capable when it comes to problems that require either handling things in a more rural or hazardous environment, or if someone needs convincing through more blunt means, whether that is an upfront warning or the use of force. His knowledge of the physiology and anatomy of various creatures, as well as many sentient species, borders on the disturbing.
