This section will cover any major updates to the character's story as the campaign unfolds.
- Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Elias Droxine is a pureblood Arkanian that was born in Adascopolis, the capital city of Arkania. Born to Amas and Zara Droxine, Elias was the youngest of two, having an older sister by the name of Kira. Elias sadly never knew his mother very well, other than that she was a well respected and dedicated bioenginner among their people. But alas she had always been an unwell woman, even in her younger years, leaving this galaxy behind before Elias had even reached his third brithday. His father Amas was also a brilliant mind, known for being a scholar and reseacher - particuarly in the field of medicine. Though after his dear wife's death, Amas had to dedicate a large portion of his life to caring for his young son and grieving daughter.
Sadly Elias also had poor health as a child, being rather sickly and fragile - keeping him homebound even as he grew older. His father was a dedicated parent and his older sister grew up rather fast after loving their mother, often taking up the responsibility to take care of her sickly brother when their father could not. The years passed and Elias went from baby to boy, yet still he spent most days in his room for his own safety and watched from his windows as the world went on around him. Still despite this, Elias didn't complain - choosing instead to take comfort in the small things in life. Such as focusing on his studies with his excellent tutors, spending time with his sister or delving into the holobooks his father would bring him about fantastical adventures across the galaxy. Through it all Elias tried to keep smiling and his hopes high, knowing how much his sister and father did for him and took comfort in his dreams that would whisk him off to worlds he had read about in those many, many holobooks.
But as Elias got older, things started to change. Those dreams of his seemed to become more focused...more specific. He'd dream of a beautiful temple against a sunset, of a cave that glistened so beautifully with crystals and a robed figure offering their hand and a chance...for something else. In the common months Elias began to feel something...calling to him, like something had awoken within him. Choosing to trust this feeling, he leaned into it - letting it flow his dreams like a guide showing him the way. Little by little, Elias found this...connection, this sensation giving him a strength he didn't have before. Every day he could take a few more steps more than the day before, breathing was a little easier - almost as if his strength of will, his faith had become a physical strength. He kept getting stronger, day by day - slowly training himself to move past his physical ailments and trust in this feeling, trust in the Force. His father, his sister - they were stunned by his progress. A progress they couldn't explain with medicine or academics, no matter how much they tried to.
Elias couldn't explain it fully, but one day he just knew he was ready. Ready for something new, to finally see the worlds and all their wonders that he'd only dreamt of from the holobooks he'd cherished. But it was more than that, like that feeling of being called to something was so clear to him now and he knew here he needed to go. His sister was busy completing her mother's work as a bioengineer, his father's research kept him forever bound to this city, this planet. Knowing they wouldn't want him to leave, wouldn't understand - Elias made the difficult decision to leave without telling them. He left a holo message for them to find, explaining where he had gone and why. He told them he loved them dearly, was sorry he had to go this way but promised he'd come back soon to visit and show them what he'd learnt.
So Elias took a shuttle off the planet for the first time in his life and travelled across the stars, until he arrived at Dantooine. Any uncertainty about his choice faded as he walked across the plains and saw that temple standing proud against a setting sun.
He knew he was exaclty where he was meant to be. - Why does your character want to be a jedi? Elias often read up on great stories of the galaxy, including that of the Jedi. He read about their bravery, their heroism and admired the idea of being able to go to so many places to meet and help others. Not to mention he wants to understand what the Force is, what it means to feel it so strongly and how to use it to properly
- Are
there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places)
that were more formative to your character’s current personal
development? Losing his mother at such an early age was rather significant to Elias, because not only did he miss out on time with her and knowing who she was but her loss also deeply affected his father, his older sister and their family dynamic. While discovering his connection to the Force was important, what was even more formative was the decision to leave his planet behind without talking about it with his family. A decision he has some guilt over.
- Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? Elias didn't meet many people being house bound, so his most prominent relationships is with his older sister Kira and his father Amas. He had to rely on them heavily, particuarly as a child with him being so unwell with Kira being almost a mother like figure. Elias loves them both dearly but always felt bad that they had to do so much for him, wishing he could be someone they could rely on. Elias's lack of personal relationships beyond them was also rather impactful - he was often lonely and wished he could have friends or be around people his own age.
- What is most Jedi-like about your character? What is least Jedi-like about your character? Elias leads with kindness, patience and has an open mind to those around them - qualities often important to the Jedi. However Elias being so closed off from the world means he is somewhat naive to the galaxy around him, learning little about things not covered by his tutoring. He also doubts himself sometimes and lacks the confidence in their abilities that a Jedi often needs.
- Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? While knowledge of the Force is limited for him, Elias has felt it deeply in some moments in his life. Whether it be his dreams or through a newfound physical strength that he has tried to nurture. Essentially, he feels it deeply but understands it little.
- Some
characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from
even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret
or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? While Elias has no deep secrets hidden from his fellow Jedi, he does keep to himself the fact he left his family behind without permission as he's a little ashamed of it. Moreso certain elements of his family's work and the true extent of the Arkanian Purebloods treatment of the Off-Shoots is something he doesn't quite grasp yet, due to his sheltered life.
- What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical?
Narrtively it's the idea of playing someone who truly tried to lead with his heart, believing the best in others but also keeping that mindset even as he understands the galaxy more. To explore the idea of being hopeful not because you're naive and don't understand the galaxy, but because you have experienced it and still choose to believe.
- Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? Nothing too specific, definitely leaning more into the Force and supporting others through Battle Meditation.
- The
Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your
character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? Elias's feels things deeply, meaning his emotions can sometimes get the better of him. His fears and sorrows are much more likely to be manipulated, tempting him to lean into it in order to save people or protect the vulnerable. It's okay if it means you do some good, right?
- Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? Elias would start as an Initiate.
