This section will cover any major updates to the character's story as the campaign unfolds.
- Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Rkela started out in life growing up with her family on Csilla in the Chiss empire located in wild space, she remembers that she was part of a family of four and she was the youngest. She remembers that her family was proud of her and each other, even more so when she was discovered to be force sensitive or in other terms eligible for a placement in the Chiss Ascendancies Skywalker Program which would grant the family a lot of prestige.
As she had turned 5 she and her family were being flown to the place where she would surrender her family name, and her leave her family to become part of the Chiss Sky-walker corps and start her training. During the trip her father was a mess and her mother who was being stoic, but both radiated such pride and love that even though she was scared and nervous she felt everything would be alright, until everything went wrong.
She had been asleep when the alarms sounded through the ship, not being awake she was dragged by her parents through what seemed like a never ending maze of corridors before they ended up outside an escape pod. Her parents had shoved her in first but the ship shook knocking her parents into the controls on the outside of the pod sealing it and sending it shooting out into space before they could get in with her. As the capsule was flying she looked out of one of the tiny windows to see some sort of space anomaly racing towards her, before she blacked out.
She awoke floating in her capsule alone in an unknown part of the galaxy, she was not sure how long she was unconscious all she knew was that she was alone. A day later, the beacon that had been activated on her pod, caught the attention of what can only be describe as the worst smuggling/scavenging/pirate crew in existence, and the pod was drawn aboard and cracked it open, she was unable to understand or speak the language but they adopted her on the spot. The crew comprised of a couple of renegade and deserter clones, some ex or runaway slaves and a bunch of hopeless dreamers all who had wanted to escape either the Hutts, the Empire or something and were now a bunch of misfits making their way in the galaxy anyway they could. The vessel they were travelling on was a series of smaller vessels that banded together to travel from place to place looking for a way to make money to keep their little flotilla aloft.
She has travelled with her family/crew all over the outer rim, and has seen many planets and places. She has learned from her crew and different people on how to survive and thrive in the most weirdest of climates, and has a tendency to adopt pets both living and droid she finds along the way who seem to flock. Which has driven a lot of her crew nuts at times, especially the last one where she managed to find a starving baby Nexus she calls Menace who follows her around everywhere, generally being a menace to everyone except her. She has grown up among these people, loved and taught as much as learn. She knows a smattering of many languages, but her brilliance is in engineering and computers, the logic, creative thinking and adaptations she has had to learn to keep these ships running would make most engineers cry at the Frankenstein-ing she has had to do. Over the last few years, the crew has finally managed to make enough credits to salvage and remake a larger ship as the base of operations, but bigger ship attracted the attention of bigger pirate crews.
Travelling along, they received an emergency distress signal from a larger stranded ship, moving along to it they heard chatter over the coms that the New Republic might have heard it too. She they rushed over hoping to help anyone anyone, for a small finders fee, or to stake their claim for salvaging rights. When they docked, they then realized they had bitten off more than they could chew. A crew of slaver pirates had set a trap for them, and they flooded into the ship stunning or shooting everyone they could see. The crew fought back but when the pirates started taking hostages and threatening to shoot children, they surrendered unconditionally. Luckily a republic vessel had also heard the distress signal, and had rushed to the area only to board and find the pirates holding the crew hostage and threatening to shoot them dead if they did not let them leave with their new ship and prizes.
On the Republic ship one of Luke Skywalker's new/old crew was on board and was helping the republic army try and take down this pirate band who all had prices on their heads. Facing off against the republic troops, the Captain of the pirates dragged Rkela to the front and placed a blaster too her head threatening to kill her and every other person on board unless they got on their ship and flew away. Rkela was over it, glaring at the man holding her there and pointing a gun at her head she glanced across and saw her over powered stun baton on the floor not far away, something the pirates had discarded as useless as it wasn't a pistol and jury rigged together. Feeling something trigger in her head and decided enough was enough, holding out her hand the baton flew into her grasp distracting the pirate for a split second as she shoved the over powered electrified right into his crotch.
It is said in legends that the scream uttered from the pirates lips was so loud it echoed all the way to Coruscant. Well maybe not, but it certainly stunned most people watching as she pulled back her arm and did it again. One of the older white haired clones grinned and said, that's my girl. And suddenly there was now a three way fight going on. Rkela's crew, the Republic enforcers and the now loosing Pirate crew.
It took 2 of the republic's fighters to drag Rkela off the Pirate Captain as she was determined to electrocute his bits off for hurting her friends, and 20 minutes for the rest of her crew to stop snigger every time as they looked at the crying twitching Pirate Captain.
After everything settled down she was offered a place at the new Jedi training place, she is going because she wants to see if she can develop her third sight (Chiss for force powers) and maybe find her way home to Chiss space, she doesn't want to leave her people, but she wants to know if her family survived and what happened to take her here. And if she can learn to harness her Third sight permanently. - Why does your character want to be a jedi? The reason my character wants to become a Jedi is because she heard the stories from her father's about how the Jedi we're there to help people to defend people, to right the wrongs and make society a better place. She was taught by her father's about how good the Jedi were and how they didn't deserve what happened to them.
Another reason, a secret reason, is that she is doing it to honour her father's as they talked about the guilt that happened to them when they took down their generals. While Hound was part of the Coruscant guard and had no Jedi of their own, Comet was part of the Wolf Pack, (elite squad of the 101st battalion) who was attached to General Plo Koon or who the troopers called General Buir, (Buir meaning parent in the Mando language) and how all the troops adored him. Comet talked about him a lot and the guilt he felt when he helped gun him down, she overheard him talking about how Jag , the clone trooper who fired the killing shot on Plo ate his own blaster when the chip wore off, devastated at what he had done. In this she wants to honour them.
The third reason is she wants to take these teachings back to her people, maybe, in the future. You see Chiss society Skywalkers lose their ability to traverse space at about the age of puberty and nobody knows why. She is hoping that was some of the teachings of the Jedi she may help her own people overcome this and so the Skywalkers in her society may continue to serve her people. I mean she is going there to learn from a Master Skywalker So what does she got to lose. - Are
there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places)
that were more formative to your character’s current personal
development? Growing up in the outer rim far away from civilised society she has seen pirates, slavers, people on the run from situations either good or bad. And she learned that everyone has a back story and some of them really suck, And nothing is ever clear cut or black and white even if she wants it to be. Even though she has been here in this part of space for most of her life she can't forget where she came from and how much it was different compared to where she is now. She is a stranger in a strange land where the rules are different as she is.
- Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? The relationships she has had in her past have been wildly varied as she has come in contact with some of the dregs of society and has made them family sometimes. The crew she ran with were considered the dregs of society, criminals, ex slaves, or people who generally didn't fit in anywhere. These people became her family so she knows sometimes out of the darkest characters are just wonderful people waiting to come out, and that some of the nicest people on the outside can harbour the darkest hearts. What her friends and enemies would say about her is that she's not shy about voicing her opinion, she's genius smart, but lacks the education to make up for it. But can adapt really quickly when she needs to. For those who have earned her loyalty and her love there is nothing in the Galaxy that she would not do for them, but hurt her or the people she cares about and she will turn as cold as ice.
- What is most Jedi-like about your character? What is least Jedi-like about your character? The most Jedi thing about my character is her ability to try and see behind the trauma to the good person behind and to try and bring that out into the forefront. She doesn't always succeed but she tries as she knows that sometimes people just need an opportunity to be better. What is the least Jedi thing about my character is her brutality when things have gone too far. Being raised in the outer rim there wasn't much justice except for what you made, and there wasn't a place to drop off criminals you had to make your own justice. Sometimes the rot is just too far in and you just have to cut it off.
- Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? My character actually has no idea about the force, as she's been using it instinctually and not as an active thing. She's only just gotten move, most of the time she's used manipulate and as a result of that she didn't even realise most of the time that she was healing the machine. It's going to take a bit for her to understand about the force and its mysticism.
- Some
characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from
even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret
or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? My character doesn't have a dark secret in fact she is terribly bad at keeping them, as her social skills are generally lacking and she has no idea how to keep her mouth shut.
- What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical?
One of the elements I am excited to explore with this character is her trying to get an understanding of what the force is without her being overly analytical and scientific about it. I mean when somebody is going to explain to her that it's in the energy source she's just going to assume that it is an energy source and un-quantifiable one at that. One of the hardest aspects of this character to play is going to be not restraining myself to say something and in fact blurting it out. As this character has no social skills or manners.
- Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? Yes and no, she's looking to gain the skills so she can go back to her people with skills that they don't have. But that is if I want my character to leave, so most of it is no. The yes part is something that she keeps in mind in the background an shouldn't really reflect on play except as a passing comment.
- The
Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your
character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? The dark side would tempt my character in a couple of different ways at first it would be due to ignorance, she would use it without even realising it and not know which side she was even drawing from. But in the future the dark side would tempt her a couple of ways, 1 the desperation to do something to help especially when feeling helpless, and two Her anger at injustice.
- Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? I would love to start my character's initiate in fact I'm kind of counting on it, mainly because it will give me an idea of how your system is running and how your story backgrounds are. I believe being initiated is a great introduction to your story. So yeah starting his initiate.
