Erii (PC)

Initiate
  1. Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
    Erii never knew her parents.

She had been an orphan for so long that she had no real memories of what her family might have been like. All she had was a small pendant of a broken Iron heart left in her crib. Sometimes, she experienced flashes; a smile, a laugh, a scent. Her earliest memory was of her new home; gazing up into the colourful array of faces that made up her new family. Her family was always eager to tell her the story of how she was found; secreted away under the bleachers, a baby’s soft coos the only thing to alert them to her presence in the circus tent.

She is eternally grateful for her new family having taken her in without a second thought; the ragtag group of flying trapeze artists eagerly taking Erii under their wing, never making her feel different, despite her unknown origin and the Pantoran heritage plain in her features. Others seemed to admire Erii’s soft pale skin and her shining yellow eyes, often calling them as luminous as the stars above. Growing up had felt completely normal to Erii. She was loved and cared for by her family at the circus. So many people looked after her there that she never really felt the lack of love or attention, and she always had someone to go to.

The atmosphere allowed her to learn quickly; as a curious child she was bursting with questions, and someone, even if she had to work her way through everyone in the circus, always ended up having an answer. Erii learned how to learn, and grew up never shying away from approaching others in her quest for knowledge.

Erii’s life at the circus was great. She was an energetic child, and had grown quite clever too. More than just her inherent quick wits, Erii often experienced uncanny intuitions about people’s emotions; it was almost magical, how she she could sense their feelings, or just get the tiniest inkling about how someone around her felt, or she could intuit what they would do next; all of which helped Erii to adjust how she behaved and act accordingly.

The circus, realising what an amazing talent this was, used Erii’s wonderful people skills and eventually appointed her to the front of house as a greeter to all of those who entered the tent. As Erii continued to grow, she shadowed different performers, learning from her family about how to dance, how to juggle, and how to laugh and joke with a crowd. Erii even learned how to bend and contort her body in unimaginable ways, greeting people in the most fascinating pretzelled shape of limbs upon entry to the performance. Oftentimes during the shows, when she was not performing, Erii found herself sitting on the bleachers watching her family perform.

Sometimes, Erii sat amongst the guests, watching the families and their children sitting together, full of laughter and love, and imagined herself living with them having a real family. The circus was her family, but she didn’t have a mother or a father; someone who loved her completely. That wishful daydreaming began to take over Erii’s imagination. And one day, that fantasy began to turn into a reality, when she became friends with Eyton, the eldest daughter of the Kella Clan; a well established Pantoran family.

It was through them that Erii learned of the Jedi Order. And nothing was the same after that.

  2. Why does your character want to be a jedi? She wants to be a jedi to meet new people and explore the galaxy, get and see what its like out there, outside of the circus.

  3. Are there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places) that were more formative to your character’s current personal development?  The Ever-moving circus was very formative to how she is now. She watched people come in miserable, sad, angry, or any type of exhausting emotion after a long day doing whatever, and then watching those expressions change to joy and laughter, giving people great memories, that was very impactful to her and who she is now. Eytons clan was also a big impact as she Eyton was her first true friend, or so Erii thinks. Through Eyton, Erii learned that there is a whole galaxy out there, ready to be explored with the help of the Jedi whereas she thought it was all already uncovered and explored.

  4. Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? Most of Erii’s relationships were at the circus, that was her family. She never had any enemies, some squabbles and shitty customers, sure. But other than that everything was normal and boring. Though the word boring in the circus is a very subjective word that can mean something different to outsiders. Erii was always up for a challenge and was the type to say yes to everything just to get attention and be relied upon even if that meant others got to be lazy. Though with more work also came more trouble as often times she would daydream, working or not about a life out there, a normal life, or a life as a merc or a rebel. But not as a dirty imp.

  5. What is most Jedi-like about your character?  What is least Jedi-like about your character? Most jedi thing about Erii is her curiosity to learn and help others. Her least jedi like traits is her possible Jealousy and to suppress those emotions.

  6. Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? The force is a mystery to her, she has no idea what it is or how it does.

  7. Some characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? This has been discussed with the player themselves.

  8. What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical? I'm excited to explore someone and something new, I don't play bubbly happy go lucky people so this will be different.

  9. Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? At this very moment, no. Just to learn, live and experience life as a thing outside the big red tent.

  10. The Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? Erii’s jealousy has a way to worm inside her head when she's not the center of attention. After all, she is a performer. The spot is hers by right and she doesn't tolerate threats to them. Whether that be others stealing her friends, or even threatening them. Step on her shoes and she will bite.

  11. Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? Initiate, she is brand new to this.
