Nezuel (PC)

Initiate
  1. Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Nezuel and his family had a relatively normal life while surviving under the Imperial Remnant’s rule until he started to exhibit signs of being force sensitive.  Near the age of 9 the young Mikkian was taken from his family and thrust into the training program set by the Imperial Knights.  Weak of body the Imperial Knights kept Nezuel around because of his supposedly strong connection to the force, attempting to bring out his latent potential by teaching him how to draw out his power via strong emotions.

Nezuel’s life would have been one of a stereotypical squire, growing in power until he eventually became a Knight Captain or even a Chapter Master. This all changed during a survival test held on a jungle planet within neutral territory.  Given a day's rations, the young cadets within his group were told to survive for a month, no matter the circumstances.

Despite the odds he survived, the month came and went, but no ship returned to take him back.  Unknown to him at the time, local pirates had disabled the Imperial ship and killed the crew, the fate of the mission unknown.

A year later, after pirate activity had bled into nearby Republic controlled space, a group of Jedi were sent to investigate and quell the situation in the area.  Shooting down the pirates, they landed on the jungle planet and found a young, near feral, Nezuel. Easily warding off his wild attack, the Jedi knocked him unconscious and took him with them back to Republic space, hoping to rehabilitate the young force user.

  2. Why does your character want to be a jedi? Ultimately, Nezuel feels a deep debt to the Jedi order.  They saved him from a bad situation and didn’t kill him despite him trying to hurt them.  It would have been easier, in his mind, to put him out of his misery, to spend actual time and resources to help someone like him isn’t something the Imperial Knights would have done.  It gives him hope that, maybe, one day he could give the same chance to an Imperial Knights cadet

  3. Are there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places) that were more formative to your character’s current personal development?  His time amount the IK is one that still haunts him to this day. He finds himself still thinking of situations from a tactical standpoint, from a point of survival and efficiency.  His ability with the force is also one that differs from the Order, simply because of how he started learning about it.  He struggles to use calm serenity to use the force, but still hopes to get there one day.

  4. Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? Nezuel had a typical relationship with his parents growing up, though his memories about them are something that the IK have tried to remove from him.  What he remembers about them, he remembers fondly, though their fate is a great concern for him.

Relationships with Squires and other instructors was a one way street, giving them respect and them holding Nezuel in barely held contempt.

With other cadets, the relationship was either one of hate where you tried to outperform the others, one of indifference, or one of cooperation where you tried to help each other. He had one physical relationship with another cadet, but they weren’t there when the jedi rescued him, he is unaware of their fate.

  5. What is most Jedi-like about your character?  What is least Jedi-like about your character? The most Jedi-like thing about Nezuel is that he wants to help people, and that he wants to care about helping people.  The least Jedi-like thing is the way he goes about it, most likely too emotionally for his own good.

  6. Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? Nezuel’s original idea of the force stems from the IK’s idea of it being a tool to be used, a weapon for combat.  While some part of that still lingers in his mind, he has been trying to see it more as a living thing since joining the Jedi.  he typically experiences it more through emotion, rather than anything else.

  7. Some characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? He wants to find his family again, knowing that they’re in Imperial controlled space and that getting to them and getting them into Republic controlled space is going to be a tall task.  He also blames himself for not taking with him the cadet he grew attached to during the survival test.

  8. What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical? I like the idea of being a dark side user within the order, using emotions and/or the dark side for good.  Struggling against the dark side inherent to the character and using methods one would typically consider evil to do good.  Combined with hopefully being able to explore the force and what it means to my character.

  9. Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? Mechanically, I’m hoping my character will be a high willpower/discipline force user.  The current plan is to get buy into alchemist and magus to become a discipline/lore crafter with FR3 to pick up protect/unleash and Insight as a main power combo.

  10. The Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? Having been exposed to those who do not care for others, Nezuel’s hatred for those without compassion is his major flaw.  It makes him blind to the idea of redeeming those that he may consider monsters, those that do not care for their fellow man.

  11. Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? Initiate. Due to growing up outside the order and his general connection with the dark side.
