Threads of the Gilded Veil

March 23, 2025

  • Session GM: Omni
  • Session Date: 23/03/2025

Session Summary
  • Team was recruited by a local administrator on Coruscant to recover a stolen painting City of light
  • Painting was stolen and only clue left behind was a riddle.
  • Team began searching, examining first location in a concert hall that had been repurposed for temp housing. Met with former contractor, learned more about the fact funding had been cut, found second clue in back room leading to shanty town.
  • Went to Shanty town. Learned from a droid, work was delayed, or had stopped suddenly. We found the next clue in a construction site. Which led to an orphanage.
  • Orphanage was in disrepair, talked with staff, found that the individual who had been laying out the clues left one on a children’s toy. Frix and thrown the clue away, and D’Karo had to go dumpster diving to get it.
  • After hosing the smelly Gorpha off, team went to the starport the final destination on our scavenger hunt/tour of shady business. The target this time, the most, gaudy, ornamented, overdone, over chromed starship, The Gilded Escape.
  • We brok-err, Creatively investigated the ship, finding a cache on a table in the captain's room.
  • Atyuna managed to get the panel broken. Sestri managed to convince a maintenance droid, to fix it, then jump into the room. Gathered case, had painting, a data cylinder and a final note saying it was up to us what to do with it.
  • Data Cylinder basically had the administrator’s financial dealings and embezzlements on record.
  • We turned in that information to the Police, had to stay on world for a few days for testifying and other court related activities
  • When we were about to come home, Eyton found another note IN our ship, from the Phantom Thief.

Player Characters

  • Atyuna Alnahr
  • D’Karo
  • Laszlo
  • Sestri Amena

Factions

  • Coruscant security - turned in information exposing embezzling to them. Probably thankful.

NPCs

  • Administrator Haldron - Scummy administrator, embezzler of government funds used for reconstruction. Currently awaiting trial on charges of corruption, embezzlement, and misuse of public funds. Probably will carry a grudge.
  • Korda Vel - Former forman for one of the reconstruction projects, specifically temp housing. Took care of a lot of people. Might win points with people.
  • Phantom Thief C - Extremely skilled thief, was able to; break into a mansion, delete security footage, steal a painting, set up multiple notes across a district, and do this relatively easily. THEN break into a space ship, on a private space dock, behind two locked doors, extricate themselves from said ship. Leaving a CLIMATE CONTROLLED storage container and data cylinder containing extensive transactions of an administrator. This is all done with the individual being dramatic, showing off, as if others were watching. This indicates a high level of skill, and funding.

Locations

  • Coruscant: A Locality had a local administrator indicted for corruption.

Narrative Section (D'karo)

Master Muss,

I regret to inform you that I will be missing our usual practice session. As I am currently with Padawans Lazslo, Sestri, Eyton, Atyuna. We are not in trouble, we are witnesses in a corruption trial on Coruscant. We uncovered that a local administrator by the name Haldron was embezzling reconstruction funds to benefit himself. I am not used to seeing such brazen displays of opulence contrasting such grinding levels of despair and poverty. I saw a man who used the riches meant to improve or at least stabilize the lives of those under him, to lavish his own vaults with art and treasures.

The fact he campaigned on such promises, and refused to deliver on them? It is a sad thing. I almost wish that he had just been fully disloyal, and been a complete cheat. I see who he wronged, the destitute, the homeless, the orphaned. Those who cannot speak, or if they speak will simply be seen as grumbling. Those he assisted, may feel shame, or they may simply overlook these circumstances or even defend him, as their own lives had been improved.

I could wonder about the grander implications, how many other administrators are doing something similar, but that is not my place. We are keepers of peace, and bringers of life. The fact that we were willing to investigate, hear the people out, and see this through speaks to what Jedi are supposed to do.

Master, I do have one other finding, an exceptional individual calling themselves Phantom Thief C. They were the one that really found the information on the Administrator. They stole a painting from his private collection, placed a trail of clues showing us around Haldron’s district, highlighting his misdeeds, managed to break into Haldron’s Yacht, place the painting in the ship, and a data cylinder showing all the man's transaction. I can only believe this individual was watching us the whole time… and selected us because we were Jedi to reveal this information. They could have tipped someone off… and we would be completely irrelevant. I do not know if he will strike again and for good or Ill, but we should watch out for him.
