Morrigan Songbird (PC)

Padawan
  1. Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Morrigan was born to the Singing Mountain Witch tribe on Dathomir just after the first battle of Yavin, her birth being seen as an ill omen. She was raised by the tribe until the age of 10 when she was sent to the newly formed Jedi temple, one of the very first initiates. She was an offering of sorts her tribe believed the omen coinciding with the destruction of the first death star meant she must learn under the cause of such an omen. Morrigan was a child and so did not see it that way. Her family had rejected her and she was wrong. There were a bunch of grown ups discussing things she didn't really understand and suddenly she had new clothes and her gift was called the force and she felt alone. The temple was a change of pace and soon she realized that she wasn't cursed and that she could make those feelings and visions go away. It stopped being overwhelming and became an extension of herself like it was supposed to be. She made some friends, some closer than others and with the help of those friends and the elder dathomir witch Tra'seya she was able to find a new outlook on her existence taking the surname Songbird as a result.

  2. Why does your character want to be a jedi? They didn't originally but they like learning things and being a jedi helps her learn and find peace.

  3. Are there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places) that were more formative to your character’s current personal development?  Her time with the dathomir witches, her placement with the jedi temple and any visions she may have or has had.

  4. Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? They had a family back on dathomir though no real friends given the social pressure of her existence. She made several friends including Vrathakka who she bonded too near instantly because of their contrasting but complimentary personalities and their similar arrival times.

  5. What is most Jedi-like about your character?  What is least Jedi-like about your character? Their incredible empathetic ability enjoyment of learning and desire to help. But they are rash and quick to anger.

  6. Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? Morrigan has always had the force flow through to the point where she often has a hard time distinguishing herself from the feelings she gets, often leading to depersonalization.

  7. Some characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? Kind of. The reasoning for their ill omen’s existence and the relationship her clan had with the nightsisters.

  8. What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical? Narratively the idea of someone in tune with the force is generally a positive thing but I rather want to explore the idea of her being in tune with the force to a degree that it is overwhelming or actively harms her. I think exploring how she learns to channel the force in a less detrimental way would be interesting. Additionally, ideas of abandonment and purpose are interesting ways to approach her. I think it will be an interesting challenge to describe or act out how the feelings she gets affect her.

  9. Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? Long term kinda but they have several smaller ones. they want to figure out the origins of the visions they are having, find out more about the non jedi force using cultures and become a knight(shes still butthurt Vrathakka became a knight so quickly). Build wise she wants to compete the foresee tree and go deep into the seek and sense tree. My goal for her is a kind of all seeing huginn and muninn vibe.

  10. The Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? The dark side could take advantage of their desire for information and their feelings of abandonment.

  11. Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan?  They are a padawan to one Cade Holden whose patience and careful guidance is unstoppable much to Morrigan's chagrin.
