Loose thread: Massive abandoned mineshaft dug out in a shelving pattern. Many paths might lie within.

Four guild members with no previous affiliations joined together to go assist Dr. Gustavo Guel's research camp. An old dwarven door opened up and required guild members to fix and clear whatever lies below. Arriving they were given there task before making short work of it. The elevator was repaired by Trimling with the help of his party. When the party descended in the elevator they came into a room resembling a lobby. A desk sitting in it which was promptly ignored before. Two path were presented, one a hallway going northward leading to a ladder and another going south with winding stairs.
Heading south first the stairs led to an excavation site where an old dwarven mining statue was sitting idle. Upon interacting with the creature it reactivated and an encounter started. The party lacking teamwork and confidence struggled to take it down but did so after many trading blows. The great pick the statue looted was taken and the room was cleared. On the east ceiling there was an opening where it led to a massive mineshaft with a peculiar layout. Shelves seemed to have been dug out opposed to a traditional mineshaft.
Heading back to the lobby the party went northward and discovered the ladder leading downwards dozens of feet. Tack volunteered to head down first promptly attracting the attention of two insect swarms. Scrambling to get pulled up from the rope he was tied to as he descended Tack did his best to get to the safety of solid ground all the while the insects were nipping at his heels. Briefly he escaped their wrath however as the swarm rushed into the lobby eating everything in the room. A tough battle nearly killing the entire party ended in a victory.
This close victory called for a well deserved rest before delving back down to explore the chamber below. A workshop was found below that must've been abandoned for quite some time. Inside a small animated Alchemist's Cauldron and Bottomless Stein were found. However the party decided that it was best to call the expedition there as the main rooms the researchers were catalog were explored and cleared out.
