Locations: Millennium Forest
Short summary:
The party entered the Millennium Forest on request from the fey Black Knight to deal with an unknown entity causing misfortunes in the woods. The party met the Orange Knight who informed them the problem was a Cu Sith/Cait Sith pair, and gave advice on their physical and emotional weaknesses. The party collected trinkets to protect against the fey, defeated their scouts, and came to an agreement with them that they would leave in exchange for the party defeating an interloper in the First World. The party entered the portal and defeated the giant deer, whereupon the Sith left peacefully.
Full Report:
The guild received a request for assistance in the Millennium Forest from the fey. The party met with the jolly and mildly nuts Black Knight, who advised them that an unknown force was causing trouble deeper in the woods. The party fought a few rogue sprites attacking his home, before seeking guidance from the scholarly, curmudgeonly and mycelium-infused Orange Knight. With some delicate negotiation and trading of lore, he eventually informed the party of the threat and possible ways to manage it.
A Cait Sith named Moira was the main source of the disturbance, spreading misfortunes on whomever it would amuse her. Her partner and a guardian to a portal to the First World, a powerful Cu Sith named Mathghamhain, formed the other half of the threat. Mathghamhain was recently wounded, making fighting him a possibility.
The party travelled to find bracelets made from the fur of the sith to help ward against their unique abilities, and found the corpse of the drake that wounded the Cu Sith. Russ'Ruk extracted its skull to draw upon the power of its breath (Dragon Relic), and the party headed to the portal. A few leprechauns and pugwampi ambushed them, but were driven off with relatively little effort.
The party encountered the pair and engaged in an attempt to influence them. The Orange Knight had informed the party that Mathghamhain could reign in Moira if sufficiently persuaded, but the two would fight to the death for each other if diplomacy failed. With Murphy playing to Mathghamhain's care for Moira (and to Moira's overinflated ego), and with Tarah Nirimaya treating the wounds Mathghamhain received from the drake, he agreed to leave with Moira if the party could remove an interloper on the other side of the portal.
The party buffed up and stepped through, where they fought and slew an immense fey deer, called a diir. It had powerful charging and stomping attacks, but after Russ'Ruk and Tarah Nirimaya 's reaction attacks whittling it down Rose "Silver" Thorn was able to land a lucky shot, punching out its heart with her arquebus.
Task complete, Mathghamhain and Moira took a hunk of the kill before retreating, and the party returned to the Black Knight to report their success. He offered the party a gift of mushrooms from the Orange Knight (Mind Relic access) before bidding them farewell.
