The Exploration of the Ant Nest. Discoveries, Threat Assessment and Recommendation.

By Whudon Darkstone

My team (Draco, Trimling Hillsong, Archiebald, Guy Sourpatch & Bacon{Swarm food} and Swampy) and I accepted the quest for eradicating the Ant Nest. We expected go into the nest and destroy the Queen, the hatchery and the Tree. However, upon experiencing this place first hand, I can say without uncertainty that this place is a cancerous growth of an Aberration which if left unchecked, will bring a much greater danger to the New World.

Discovery: The Green Goop is a potent mind altering agent which is seems to assert some sort of control/suggestion on those who come into contact with it  (infected a large centipede: spreading), acquire for study. This seems to connect with a hive mind of some way. Member Swampy ingested the goop (willing for scientific research), in order to gain a grasp of what it would do and made contact with some Otherworldly Entity which claims that he is their 'Champion' and must "The Strong survive - The weak nourish the cycle". Swampy was able to overcome the suggestion, but will need to be observed for any alterations to himself, he shows normal behavior and wishes to finish the hive. We also found the hatchery for the Queen, which is a heavily guarded sanctuary, which had 4 eggs. 3 we destroyed and 1 egg was brought back for study, even though it is damaged, it will hopefully yield results.

Threat Assessment: We have come across multiple of the hybrid aberrations (ant/spiders) at an alarming rate, which suggests their numbers are growing. 1 of their bodies was collected for research and is in Guild custody. With the aggressive nature of these abominations (designated: Antbomination), it seems likely that more variants will be made by the Hive as a source of protection or offensive capabilities. As well as a Swarm that goes into a frenzy when anything is done to harm the hive. Be wary of future exploration and extermination missions.

Recommendation: COLD works very Effectively against these creatures. The goop that course through them becomes brittle and it is easier to harm them. Do Not Use ELECTRICITY!! It makes them faster, seeming to hasten them, it is highly recommended not to use that element at any cost. FIRE seems to do little damage to them, so it is not highly advised.

Personal note: A 4 person squad is not enough to put an end to this. I suggest an 8 to 12 person raid of this nest. 1 team to kill the Queen, 1 to negate replacement with the Queen Hatchery, and 1 to destroy the Tree. I hypothesis that this is the only way to end the horror which festers underground.

If possible, drown the nest and freeze it over. Acquire access to cold elementals and let them cause frozen havoc on the aberrations. Get large bombs that deal a lot of cold damage and place them at important locations and blow it all up.
It is my recommendation that this place be prioritized for immediate extermination. The balance of the natural world order is at risk, and we must put an end to this, sad excuse of a colony. Or suffer some consequences which we are not ready for.
